Synopsis: As the company has announced that it will roll out this feature named ‘toll prices’ to the app of Google Maps, it has also said that the feature will initially be available to users in India, the United States, Japan, and Indonesia. The app will under the new feature offer information on toll prices of over 2,000 roads.

Google Maps has been a partner of your various vocations for quite a while now. It is coming up with a range of updates and among them, it will now solve one of the major issues faced by people on vocation, which is ‘Toll Tax’. So, this means that apart from navigating routes, now you’ll be able to see estimated toll prices.

As the company has announced that it will roll out this feature named ‘toll prices’ to the app of Google Maps, it has also said that the feature will initially be available to users in India, the United States, Japan, and Indonesia. The app will under the new feature offer information on toll prices of over 2,000 roads.

The feature will also help users to opt between the route, as in case they don’t have to pay toll tax, they can choose the toll-free route as well. Additionally, Google Maps will also show information like time of the day, payment methods of toll prices, cost with toll pass, expected toll prices at a particular time of the day, etc.

Ruben Lozano-Aguilera, who is the Product Manager of Google Maps made the announcement in a blog post noting that Long-distance drives, poor road conditions, and heavy traffic can spoil the mood of anyone on the trip. Ruben said,

To help make the choice between toll roads and regular roads easier, we’re rolling out toll prices on Google Maps for the first time.

The Product Manager further added in the post, 

You’ll soon see traffic lights and stop signs along your route, along with enhanced details like building outlines and areas of interest. And, in select cities, you’ll see even more detailed information, like the shape and width of a road, including medians and islands–you can better understand where you are, and help decrease the odds of making last-minute lane changes or missing a turn.

The post also mentioned that in the cities, users will be able to see more details such as the shape and width of a road, which will include medians and islands in order to have a better understanding of the location where they are. The feature will help the users to avoid last-minute hassles like lane changes or missing a turn.

Google is also rolling out a range of features that includes traffic lights and stop signs. The features will let the users drive confidently even on unfamiliar routes. Pinned trip widget, direct navigation from Apple Watch, and shortcuts app for iOS users are among the other features announced in the blog post.

The new updates on Google Maps will soon be available to the users in the mentioned countries in the coming weeks on Android, iOS, Android Auto, and CarPlay.
