Gojek Interview Experience

Got to know about the hiring and asked for a referral from one of the gojek employees.

Got an HR call and got the interview scheduled.

The first round was of 2 hours (machine coding round)

The question was on Battleship Game Implementation. Not only i was said to write the code but was also in additionally asked to cover the unit tests of the code. In almost an hour time i completed the code and explained the code along with the possible bugs and possible improvements, though the interviewer told to optimize the code but in short span of time where i had to cover unit tests also, that wasnt possible and i started with the test case writing in which again i wasnt able to complete it due to shortage of time…though the interview went quite fine but i got the HR call the next day stating:

Though you completed the code but we were expecting an optimized code and code completion wasnt out target, even if 60-70% code could be written in optimized way that would have been better..another feedback i got on not able to cover tests cases on time due to shortage of time and they are very strict with the unit test cases as per the team. At the end HR told to reapply after 3 months of cooling period.

Although a rejection but a new learning experience for the next phase of life.
