GATE CS-IT Exam Experience

Unacademy is an online learning platform that offers a varied range of courses for various competitive exams including IIT-JEE, JEE, UPSC, NEET, etc. It was founded by Gaurav Munjal, Hemesh Singh, and Roman Saini in 2015. As of May 2022, Unacademy was valued at US$3.44 billion. In May 2023, I enrolled myself for the preparation of GATE2024 on Unacademy and opted to go with the course for CS/IT GATE Batch. The institute offers various batches for candidates preparing for PSUs as well as for GATE. The subjects are taught by experienced and talented faculty who have already topped the same exam. The core subjects included in the course are:

2. Programming and Data Structures
3. Operating Systems
4. Compiler Design
5. Theory of Computation
6. Databases
7. Engineering Mathematics
8. Digital Logic
9. Discrete Mathematics
10. General Aptitude

Besides the core subjects, some special sessions are also provided for mentorship by experts. Both live and recorded lectures are provided along with slides/notes for the convenience of students.

Doubt-Solving Quality:

The doubt-solving quality was amazing. The platform offers students the facility to clear doubts 24/7. Students only need to click a picture of the doubt and upload it to the doubt section of the platform, which provides solutions by the experts of respective subject matter experts within a minute. Even if the doubt was not solved, a separate doubt-solving session was conducted every week.

Learning Curve:

The platform provides students with weekly and topic-based assessments that help them track their progress. One of the key factors that make this platform stand out is the detailed analysis of test performance, which helped me make progress in less time. The practice sessions conducted by educators also paced the learning curve with good, knowledgeable content for solving PYQs.

Mentorship Quality:

The mentorship was somewhat satisfactory as it is based on the type of subscription one chooses. In my case, I had opted to go with the Iconic subscription. In the Iconic subscription, a personal mentor conducts sessions every week, whereas in the Plus subscription, this facility is not provided. Overall, the mentorship quality was good, as the mentor always provided me with clear plans and guidance on how to practice to gain more. Additionally, whenever I was stuck with preparation, the mentor was always ready to sort out my doubts.

Overall Feedback:
