How to Calculate Marks Using GATE Answer Key 2024?
Using the GATE 2024 Exam Answer Key, Candidates can calculate the GATE Marks from the below-mentioned steps:
- Step 1: Calculate a total number of correct answers and allocate marks accordingly, which overall helps in calculating marks.
- Step 2: The candidate has to calculate the total negative marks for their wrong answers. (Only MCQs will have negative marks. There will be no negative marks for NAT Questions).
- Step 3: MCQ Marks: Total marks ( 1 mark) + Total Marks (2 marks)
- Step 4: Total Marks ( 1 mark) = 1 * No of correct attempts – 1/3 * No. of Wrong Attempts
- Step 5: Total Marks ( 2 mark) = 2 * No of correct attempts – 2/3 * No. of Wrong Attempts
- Step 6: NAT Marks = Total Marks (1 mark) + Total Marks (2 marks)
Formula: Total marks = Total marks secured for correct response – Negative marks for wrong response.

Steps to check GATE Response Sheet 2024
- Step 1: Login to the GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System) Portal.
- Step 2: You will get their ‘View Response Sheet’ button for checking the View Response Sheet.
- Step 3: Candidates can view their response sheets easily.
- Step 4: You can easily save the web page from the same page.
Steps to Challenge GATE Answer Key 2024
If you find any objection in the GATE 2024 Provisional Answer Key, you can challenge the same through the below-given steps:
- Step 1: Visit the official GOAPS Website.
- Step 2: You will find the “Contest Answer Key” tab. Click on it.
- Step 3: The web page will be redirected to the payment gateway.
- Step 4: First, you have to make the payment of Rs. 500 via online mode (for each challenge). For NRI candidates, the charge is US $ 10.
- Step 5: Upon successful payment, enter the question number you want to challenge.
- Step 6: For the justification, candidates have to provide the contest (maximum 500 characters).
- Step 7: Candidates can also add the necessary supporting documents as per the format.
Candidates have to check the serial number of questions as mentioned in the official question paper as released by the organising authority.

The official GATE 2023 answer key will be released on the GATE website (gate.iitk.ac.in) within a few days of the exam. To download the answer key, you will will check our article.
Q2. How many people qualified for GATE 2023?
The number of people who qualified for GATE 2023 will be announced along with the results. In previous years, the number of qualified candidates has varied between 20% and 30% of the total number of candidates who appeared for the exam.
Q3. What is the difference between provisional and final answer keys?
The final answer key is the one released after all the objections raised by candidates have been examined and accepted/rejected and provisional answer key is the one released just after the exam.
Q4. How can I check my GATE answer key?
To check your GATE answer key, you will need to download it from the GATE website and compare your answers to the correct answers. You can also use the GATE answer key to calculate your estimated score.
