Elhitech is a product-based startup company. I applied for a job through the Hirect application, and after following up twice, I finally got an answer for the interview. It was for an entry-level full-stack developer role (MERN stack).

There were a total of 2 rounds and 1 takeaway project:

Round 1

It was a simple introductory round where I needed to introduce myself, and some questions were asked regarding that as well.

  • Introduce yourself.
  • Showcase and explain one of your recent projects.
  • Questions regarding the projects I have done.
  • How can we minimize the load on a single API?

After the questioning, I was given a take-home assignment. It was a simple assignment where I needed to use the API data to design a frontend as per the requirements.

Round 2

This is where I was thoroughly grilled with questions related to the assignment, frontend, backend, and system design. It went on for almost 1 hour and 45 minutes. The interviewer was quite supportive even though my internet connection was not stable, and I kept getting disconnected.

The following were the questions raised during the interview:

  • Explain how you approached the assignment and the difficulties you faced.
  • Why did you use React?
  • What are the benefits of React over other frameworks?
  • Design a movie ticket booking system, e.g., MakeMyTrip.
  • Load balancing.
  • Handling multiple people trying to book tickets at the same time, etc.

I was able to answer almost all questions except for a few tricky system design questions, as I was not ready for a system design interview.

After waiting for 2-3 days, I received a feedback mail: Verdict – selected but for the frontend role, not full-stack one. I guess it was because of the system design. So, if you’re applying for the same role, do practice system design. It won’t be in too much depth, but they expect you to know the basics to an intermediary level.
