Largest District of Andhra Pradesh

The largest district in Andhra Pradesh is called Prakasam District. It emerges on top after an area of 14,322 square kilometers and a population of a massive 22,88,026 habitants. It’s named after a brave person who fought for freedom and used to be the leader of the old Madras State and the first leader of Andhra Pradesh State. His name was Sri Tanguturi “Prakasam Panthulu,” and people lovingly called him “Andhra Kesari.” He was born in a small village called Vinodarayunipalem, in the Kanaparthi area of Naguluppala Padu Mandal in this district. It’s headquarters is located at Ongole. It was Formed in 1970 and reorganized on April 4, 2022. It consists of 38 mandals, with 715 Gram Panchayats and about 769 inhabited revenue villages.

Smallest District of Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam district is the smallest district with an area of 1,048 square kilometers and a population of 19,59,544 habitants. Visakhapatnam is located between the Eastern Ghats and the Bay of Bengal. Positioned in Coastal Andhra Region, it is flanked by the Simhachalam Hill Range, Yarada Hills, and Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary. In Visakhapatnam, Telugu is the main language that people use officially and every day. There are two versions of Telugu spoken: the usual one and a variation called Uttarandhra. About 92.13% of the people in Visakhapatnam speak Telugu, according to the 2011 census. Besides Telugu, other languages spoken in the area include Urdu (2.77%), Hindi (2.19%), and Odia (0.92%).
