It’s named after a brave person who fought for freedom and used to be the leader of the old Madras State and the first leader of Andhra Pradesh State. His name was Sri Tanguturi “Prakasam Panthulu,” and people lovingly called him “Andhra Kesari.” He was born in a small village called Vinodarayunipalem, in the Kanaparthi area of Naguluppala Padu Mandal in this district. It’s headquarters is located at Ongole. It was Formed in 1970 and reorganized on April 4, 2022. It consists of 38 mandals, with 715 Gram Panchayats and about 769 inhabited revenue villages.
