With an area of 11,815 square kilometers, Chhindwara district emerges as the largest district of Madhya Pradesh. Chhindwara is right in the middle of Madhya Pradesh. According to the census, the population of Chhindwara is estimated to be around 2,090,922, out of which male and female were 1,064,468 and 1,026,454 respectively. This famous historical fort of Devgarh is situated 24 miles south of Chhindwara beyond Mohkhed. The fort is built on a hill which is fortified by a deep valley clothed with dense reserve forest.

With an area of 1,170 square kilometers, Niwari district emerges as the smallest district of Madhya Pradesh. According to the census, the population of Chhindwara is estimated to be around 404,807. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes make up 99,441 (24.57%) and 18,244 (4.51%) of the population respectively. Niwari is famous for its magnificent palaces, forts, and vibrant markets.
