Hello friends! , I wanted to share my experience of the recent interview I had with BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre) for the Scientist B position. It was a remarkable opportunity, and I’m grateful for the chance to interview with such a prestigious organization in the field of nuclear research.

The selection and interview process consisted of multiple stages:

  • Application and Shortlisting for the interview: Gate score or Written Test
  • Interview Date selection: We were given a few dates to select from and I preferred the 16th of June.
    Venue: @BARC Head Quarter Mumbai

Day of the Interview: Firstly Document verification process will be done Department wise and u get a green card (which u have to show to the interview panelists ) containing a number and u will be called for the interview accordingly.

There were 2 Panels in my case each panel consists of 5-6 Respected Senior Scientists.

The interview begins: First they asked about my background, area of interests, gate score, and to which IIT I would likely get admitted, these questions were just to get me to adapt to the interview environment.

Now, the actual technical assessment starts, one of the interviewers asked me to write my 5-6 fav CS core subjects on Whiteboard, I wrote: C, DS, OS, CN, DBMS, and COA (They can even ask u questions apart from these subjects ).

Questions they asked:

  • #C: What is a pointer, double pointer, void pointer, Recursive function to print a string in reverse order, scan format
  • #DS: what is an AVL tree, what types of data structure, steps to convert any tree to a Binary Tree
  • #CN : Write down all the layers of the TCP/IP model, about port, protocols of the Application layer and Network layer, range of Bluetooth and WIFI, about LAN.
  • #OS: about PAS and LAS, the paging concept, ROM, the need for multilevel paging, and how the page table works.

My interview lasted for 50 minutes and overall I felt that questions were easy if u prepare in the depth of core CS subjects but the environment makes it hard, the panel will interrupt u, cross-question u, and will try to make u uncomfortable and when u become they will just change the question, this is the point where u have to be calm. Try to answer the question by connecting it with the system and real-life practical’s this is what they wanted to hear from u.

Good Luck.
