Amazon WOW Interview Experience for SDE

I applied it through an off-campus drive available on Amazon. jobs portal. I appeared for this from the Amazon Wow process.

First Round (Online Assessment:) The assessment consisted of four sections. You couldn’t switch between different sections. All these sections were having a timer in them and you have time for only that section specified.

This round consisted of sections with the following sections :

if you complete any round earlier, the leftover time won’t be added to the next round.

1. A section that had MCQs regarding the basics of Computer knowledge and DBMS.
2. Secondly, there was a coding test (70 minutes) which had two problems.
3. A workstyles assessment (20 minutes)
4. A reasoning ability section (35 minutes).

These were the four sections. I completed the MCQ part as well as it was mandatory to complete both the codes asked.

After that, I got the shortlisting mail for the next round which was held on the HackerRank platform.

Second Round (Online Assessment:) This was held on the HackerRank platform. It consisted of 2 questions of coding. One was a DSA problem and another was a problem related to an XML file. You need to complete both questions to qualify for the final interview

So the coding questions asked were:

• Maximum Rectangular Area in a Histogram

Third Round (Offline Interview:) My interview was post covid, so it was held offline in some location. I was informed prior one month and I was asked about my location preferences. Then I prepared DSA questions for it. The interviewer started by reviewing my resume and then asking some questions related to my resume only. After that, she gave me a pen and paper and one DSA problem to solve and write my approach to that question as well as told me to code in my comfortable language.

• Game Of Subsets

My question was a variation of the above-mentioned question. So I wrote my brute-force approach to that question initially and explained the interviewer with a sample test case. After that I told her that I can surely optimize it by using dynamic programming, then she seemed satisfied with the approach.

After that, she asked me 2-3 puzzles which were formulas based on trees, and then she drew one another DSA problem on the paper and asked me to only explain the optimized approach to it. It was a question related to trees and I solved the question and then with a dry run, I explained it to her.

So that was it for my interview, I got a selection mail after exactly 10 days post my interview for the SDE intern role (6 months internship) in which PPO was performance-based.
