To compete with Microsoft Corp., Amazon intends to add a ChatGPT-style product search to its online store.

The online retail, Amazon, has long kept mum on its intentions for conversational AI, even while rivals Google and Microsoft advance in creating and deploying chatbots that can converse with customers and respond to their questions.

This change seeks to increase user interaction and give users more accurate and personalized search results. Amazon will advance the search capabilities of its app by utilizing the strength of conversational AI.

However, a recent pair of job advertisements might have only provided a hint as to Amazon’s plans. The job advertisements, which Bloomberg found and first published, promised a new search tool for Amazon’s online shop that would include a chat interface powered by a system resembling ChatGPT, one of the top natural language AI systems in the world.

Bloomberg was informed by an Amazon spokesman, Keri Bertolino, that the business is experimenting with generative AI tools but withheld further information regarding the new job advertisements. Bertolino adds in an email, “We are significantly investing in generative AI across all of our businesses.”

When it introduced Alexa, one of the first widely used AI assistants, in 2014, Amazon was regarded as a pioneer in the field of conversational AI. Alexa immediately gained popularity and was installed in millions of homes and devices. Although text-based solutions like ChatGPT have more success than Amazon Alexa, the business stated in January 2019 that it has sold more than 100 million Alexa devices.

There are several possible advantages to adding AI capabilities resembling ChatGPT to Amazon’s app search. First off, compared to conventional keyword-based searches, it can dramatically lessen ambiguity and misunderstanding. With the aid of natural language processing, the AI is better able to understand the user’s intent, which enhances search accuracy. Customers’ overall satisfaction is increased as a result of being able to more quickly find the things they need.

We may anticipate that the search will provide some conversational inputs whenever Amazon decides to push out the upgrade.

The AI-driven search experience is personalized, which can benefit Amazon in its efforts to forge closer bonds with its customers. Amazon can offer a more curated and personalized buying experience by learning about customer preferences and delivering customized search results.

Users are more inclined to trust and remain loyal to Amazon as a result of this level of personalization, which increases their likelihood of doing more shopping there in the future.

An important step towards a more user-friendly and customized search experience is represented by Amazon’s plan to include AI elements that are similar to ChatGPT in its app search.

Amazon intends to provide more precise and context-aware search results by utilizing advanced language models and combining conversational capabilities. This change might rethink how users engage with the app, leading to greater engagement and pleasure.
