To know about my interview experience on ‘How did I get into Airtel’, please feel free to go through this LINK.

I’d worked in Airtel for almost 8 months (5 Months Intern and 3M as a full-time employee).

When I joined, I also had an internship offer from a startup, but since I got good reviews for Airtel, I decided to go with it. So just after a week of joining (system setup and KTs) I was assigned to Airtel Payments Team (African Region).

Initially, I struggled a bit as the tech I was assigned to work on (Angular/Springboot) was completely new, but the support I got from the team is truly appreciated.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a whole, my main responsibility is to take care of all the front-end operations as a front-end developer.
  • Initially, my first task was a minor bug fix on a page.
  • Later, I worked closely with Frontend lead to deliver high-quality and working production code for adding a new feature on their web app (This was my Intern project as well).
  • Once I converted to full-time, I also worked on the backend part to manage the payload and to make sure everything was working smoothly.

Working at Airtel has also allowed me to interact with customers from different parts of the world, making it an enriching global experience. I also used to connect with Product Managers to discuss how we can improve our design and user experience, and I loved how amazing solutions we got from those meetings.

Pros:

  • No on-call (usually, there is a concept of on-call in top MNCs)
  • Relaxed project deadlines (TRUST me, this is the best thing in Airtel, and I am always grateful for it)
  • My teammates are very supportive.
  • Learned most about developing features independently.
  • Almost all tech and coding work.

Cons:

Though my overall experience was really amazing yet it has a few cons as well.

  • Daily standups.
  • Small team, so there is more dependency on you.
  • Sometimes you’ve to attend a lot of meetings to figure out the right approach (but this is good as well for end-to-end testing).
