Well…I am currently pursuing my degree from the National Institute of Engineering, Mysore, Therefore, me being in my first year don’t have much experience regarding technical interviews for now. But I do have a fair share of experience in the Air Force Selection Board, Guwahati, Assam for my interviewing round to join the Indian Air Force. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to clear the last round(conference) but surely it did teach me a lot and here I am to share my hilarious encounters during my AFSB days.

  • During the group discussion round, candidates are required to express their opinions on a given topic. In one particular discussion, the topic was “The Role of Music in Our Lives.” As candidates passionately shared their views, Chest no.04, who had a habit of humming under his breath, got carried away with the topic. Unbeknownst to him, his humming gradually turned into full-blown singing. As his voice gained attention, everyone burst into laughter, disrupting the serious tone of the discussion. Despite the unexpected turn of events, the candidate handled the situation with a good-natured smile, showcasing his ability to adapt to any circumstance.
  • I remember I was Chest no. 08 and after me was Chest no.09. During the Lecturette round, while I was giving my lecture the next chest number(09) was preparing a lecture for his topic written on a pamphlet. I finished my round and he can inside the room full of other candidates and Group Task Officer(Rank: Wing Commander). He delivered his lecture on the topic “5AFSB Guwahati”. We wholeheartedly listened to his speech. After he completed his speech, the Group Task Officer called him and told him to show his pamphlet. We came to know that his topic was “Effect of Demonitization on India” and what he read was the cover page of the pamphlet. I remember the astounded face of the Group Task Officer and candidates holding our laughers.

Conclusion: While the selection process at AFSB Guwahati is undoubtedly demanding, these funny incidents remind us that laughter and camaraderie can still find their way into even the most intense situations. These amusing experiences not only bring a smile to the faces of the candidates but also serve as a reminder of the importance of maintaining a positive and lighthearted spirit amidst the challenges.
