Hey there, I’m sharing my experience with the Zoho technical support engineer interview process held as part of a pool campus drive at SVCE (Sree Venkateshwara College of Engineering) in Tirupati on February 18, 2024.

Hiring Process

The entire process took a full day and consisted of four rounds:

Written Test:

This paper-based test (50 questions, 60 minutes) covered basic aptitude, including computer networks (15 questions), quantitative (10 questions), and verbal (25 questions). The questions were fairly simple, and you can find similar ones online by searching for “Zoho technical support engineer test questions.” If you pass, you’ll receive a notification on your registered mobile number.

Group Discussion (GD):

Around 489 candidates qualified for the GD round, divided into batches of 50 each. We were given two topics to discuss: OTT vs. Theatre or Online vs. Offline Education, and the Impact of AI or the Indian Education System. Each participant had 2-3 minutes to speak. I chose to talk about AI, a topic I was interested in, and spoke for about 2 minutes. Three evaluators assessed our scores, and I successfully progressed to the next round.

Tip: Speak confidently with hand gestures and fluency. Avoid hesitation and focus on demonstrating your ability to speak effectively, not necessarily on the specific content.

Technical Interview:

This one-on-one session with a member of the hiring team felt more like a combined HR and behavioural interview. While your resume forms the basis, it’s not about the technical details but more about assessing your communication skills and mentality. Some were asked about hobbies and interests, while others faced questions related to their resume’s technical points. The key here is to demonstrate your ability to communicate well and present yourself positively.

In my case, I was asked:

  • Education background
  • Family details
  • Higher education plans
  • Favourite daily activity
  • Favorite subject
  • Reasons for choosing to code over other career paths
  • Knowledge of Zoho
  • Suitability for the role

Tip: Research Zoho beforehand and highlight your interest in the company during the interview. This demonstrates your preparedness and genuine interest.

HR Interview:

After the technical round, around 40-50 candidates made it to the HR interview. This round primarily focused on confirming your understanding and acceptance of the role’s terms and policies, which included:

  • 4-year bond
  • Renigunta location
  • Night shifts
  • No negotiation on terms

My Experience:

I completed the technical round and qualified for the HR interview. However, I ultimately decided not to accept the offer due to personal reasons: the long bond period, non-negotiable terms, and Renigunta’s location not being a major IT hub.

Conclusion:

While I wasn’t selected for the role, I gained valuable experience from the interview process. If you’re interested in this position, be prepared to accept the terms and conditions while demonstrating your skills and suitability through clear communication and a positive attitude.
