Udaan Interview Experience for Software Engineer Internship + FTE (On-Campus) 2022

The entire selection process had 4 rounds.

Round 1: Online Coding Test

  • Participants: Approximately 355 students.
  • Platform: HackerEarth.
  • Task: Solve a complex coding problem involving a calendar appointment system, requiring the creation of four specific functions.
  • Performance: My code successfully passed 11 out of 14 test cases using Python.

Result: I was among the 3 students shortlisted.

Key Focus Areas: Object-Oriented Programming (OOPs), Programming Basics, Low-Level Code (Machine Code), Data Structure Fundamentals.

Round 2: Development Round

  • Format: Received a task via email with a PDF description.
  • Objective: Develop a fitness booking system incorporating at least 2 APIs.
  • Time Allotted: 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  • Submission: Code, output screenshots, and a README file, compiled into a zip file.

Result: I was the only one to be selected for the interviews.

Key Focus Areas: Web/App Development (Full-Stack), API Integration, Database Management.

Round 3: Technical Interview

  • Duration: Scheduled for 45 minutes but extended to nearly 1 hour.
  • Interviewer: Product Engineer.
  • Structure: The interview comprised four segments:
    • Resume and Past Projects Review: Discussed my previous work and experiences.
    • Discussion on Round 2 Project: Detailed talk about the fitness booking system I developed.
    • System Design: Explored the system architecture of the project from Round 2.
    • General Q&A: Covered various technical and conceptual topics.
  • Interaction: Engaging and supportive discussion on various projects and concepts.

Result: Advanced to the final interview.

Key Focus Areas: Resume details, System Design, Real-World Projects, OOPs Concepts.

Round 4: Managerial Interview

  • Duration: 30 minutes.
  • Interviewer: VP of Engineering.
  • Structure:
    • Resume Exploration: Focused on my past projects and achievements.
    • Problem-Solving Approach: Discussed how I address coding challenges, with a notable conversation about using StackOverflow.
  • Interaction: The interview was conversational and insightful.

Result: Got Selected and received the Internship + FTE Offer.

Overall, this selection process was a challenging and rewarding experience for me. I was the only student selected from my campus (RVCE) and It stands as a significant milestone in my career, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in professional growth and innovation.
