How to Read Table of 12?

12 times table is a simple table to learn. Students can easily memorize the table and solve problems based on it. Let us see how to read Table of 12.

  • One(1) time Twelve is Twelve(12)
  • Two(2) times Twelve is Twenty Four(24)
  • Three(3) times Twelve is Thirty Six(36)
  • Four(4) times Twelve is Forty Eight(48)
  • Five(5) times Twelve is Sixty(60)
  • Six(6) times Twelve is Seventy Two(72)
  • Seven(7) times Twelve is Eighty Four(84)
  • Eight(8) times Twelve is Ninty Six(96)
  • Nine(9) times Twelve is One Hundred Eight(108)
  • Ten(10) times Twelve is One Hundred Twenty(120)

Representation of Multiplication Table as Addition

The table of 12 can be represented as multiplication as 12 times 4 i.e. 12 × 4 can be written as 12 + 12 + 12 + 12. This can be proved using the distributive property of multiplication as,

12 + 12 + 12 + 12 = 12×1 + 12×1 + 12×1 + 12×1

= 12(1 + 1+ 1 + 1)                                         [using the distributive property of multiplication]

= 12(4)

= 48

12 + 12 + 12 + 12 = 48

Similarly, the table given below represents the table of 12 in addition form.

12×1 = 12 = 12
12×2 = 12 + 12 = 24
12×3 = 12 + 12 + 12 = 36
12×4 = 12 + 12 + 12 + 12 = 48
12×5 = 12 +12 +12 +12 +12 = 60
12×6 = 12 +12 +12 +12 +12 +12 = 72
12×7 = 12 +12 +12 +12 +12 +12 +12 = 84
12×8 = 12 +12 +12 +12 +12 +12 +12 +12 = 96
12×9 = 12 +12 +12 +12 +12 +12 +12 +12 +12 = 108
12×10 = 12 +12 +12 +12 +12 +12 +12 +12 +12 +12 = 120

Tricks to Remember Table of 12

Table of 12 does not have various tips to make learning easy. The only pattern it follows is, that the number in the unit place of the number repeats itself once, this can be understood by,

12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 84, 96, 108, 120

Here, the 2, 4, 6, 8, 0 repeats itself in the units place.

Solved Examples 12 Times Table

Example 1: If Karan runs 5 Km a day for 12 consecutive days then the total km run by him in 12 days.

Solution:

Kabir runs in a day = 5 Km

No. of days he runs = 12 Km

Total Kilometer Kiran runs = 5×12           {Using table of 12}

= 60 Km

Total Kms run by Karan in 12 days is 60 Km

Example 2: If Shivam reads 12 pages of a book in a day, tell us how many pages of the book he read in a week.

Solution:

Shivam reads pages in a day = 12

Shivam reads the book for many days = 7 days

Total pages read by Shivam = 12×7       {Using table of 12}

= 84 pages

Total pages read by Shivam are 84 pages.

Example 3: Using the table of 12 simplify 12 times 4 plus 12 times 3.

Solution:

By studying the table of Twelve we know that,

12 times 4 = 12 × 4 = 28

12 times 3 = 12 × 3 = 36

Now,

12 times 4 plus 12 times 3

= 12 × 4 + 12 × 3

= 48 + 24

= 72

Example 4: Using the table of 12 simplify, 12 times 5 minus 12 times 3.

Solution:

By studying the table of twelve we know that,

12 times 5 = 12 × 5 = 60

12 times 3 = 12 × 3 = 36

Now,

12 times 5 minus 12 times 3

= 12 × 5 – 12 × 3

= 60 – 36

= 24
