Synopsis: The newly introduced Snapchat feature will be using the RSS feed of the partners that are going to join hands with the company. The stories will be auto-generated which will be using the content created by verified media publications.

American instant messaging Snapchat has introduced a feature named ‘Dynamic Stories’ for its users as testers. The new feature on the app will bring news updates and other information when the users will move to the app’s discover feed option. The update is supposed to keep them updated on the happenings around the world.

The newly introduced Snapchat feature will be using the RSS feed of the partners that are going to join hands with the company. The stories will be auto-generated which will be using the content created by verified media publications. “With Dynamic Stories – this new Discover format uses a partner’s RSS Feed to automatically create Stories from the content a Publisher is already creating on the web,” the company has said in a press release.

The company has also mentioned that the stories will be updated in real-time ensuring timeliness and maintaining the news factor as the latest story will be available as it breaks. Giving example, it has been said that whether the ‘breaking news’ from a credible source from war-torn Ukraine or something related to pop culture and even fashion, the feature will help the platform keep the users updated with the information. 

Clarifying the procedure of ensuring that there is no fake news via the ‘Dynamic Stories’ feature, the platform has stated in the press release, 

Snapchat does not offer an unmoderated open newsfeed, where unvetted individuals or publishers can broadcast false and misleading information to a large audience. Discover only features content from verified media publishers and content creators.

According to the company, the new feature will be playing a significant role in bringing local content to the global audience. The feature is being tested in selected countries including, the United States (US), United Kingdom (UK), France, and India.

The company said, 

By tying publishing on Snapchat into our partners’ existing workflow, we’ve created an easy way for them to create daily content and significantly lower costs. This new format will also play a significant role in supporting our continued effort to bring local content to our community across the globe.

Snapchat has partnered with several media publishers in the mentioned countries where it is beginning with the services. In India, it will be providing content from GQ India, MissMalini, Pinkvilla, Sportskeeda, The Quint, Times Now, and Vogue India. While, in the US, some of the prominent partners of the platform for the initiative include, Axios, Bloomberg, BuzzFeed, CNN, etc.
