Satya Nadella is the chief executive officer CEO of Microsoft since 2014 and under him, Microsoft has grown a lot now. Satya Nadella was promoted as the CEO in 2014, and since then he has been working hard for Microsoft to increase its customers and revenue. In June 2021 he was further promoted to the position of executive chairman in Microsoft. Satya Nadella is an Indian American business executive. Before becoming the CEO of Microsoft he was working as the former executive vice president at Microsoft Cloud.

Satya Nadella – Early Life and Career:

Satya Nadella was born in Hyderabad in 1967. He was born in a very modest family where his father was an IAS officer and his mother was a teacher. Soon after completing his Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering from Manipal institute of technology, he moved to the United States to pursue his Master’s in Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and then his MBA from the University of Chicago.

After completing his Master’s, Nadella started working as a technical staff engineer in Sun microsystems, and then he later joined Microsoft as a project manager in 1992. He was mainly working on the development of Windows NT and some other cloud computing businesses and enterprises at Microsoft.

Microsoft soon promoted him to corporate vice president in 2001 and then he was the president of research and development for the online services Microsoft by 2007. Then he was promoted to the President of the server and tools division in 2011 where he mainly worked to compile the Microsoft database along with the windows server and Azure cloud services. With the project led by him in cloud computing, Microsoft’s revenue increased to 20 billion dollars up from 16 billion dollars in 2013.

Since Satya Nadella gained the attention of the Microsoft board of directors and the founder Bill Gates, he was appointed as the new CEO of Microsoft in February 2014. Then after working as the CEO for 8 years he has now been promoted to the executive chairman of Microsoft.

During his communication with Microsoft employees, he said that it is very important to maintain an environment of continuous learning and growth in the company rather than the typical corporate culture.

Microsoft’s Success Under Satya Nadella’s Leadership:

Under Satya Nadella Microsoft stock has almost tripled since 2014. Soon after Satya Nadella became the CEO, Microsoft acquired the company Mojang which is famous for the Minecraft game for 2.5 billion dollars. Microsoft also purchased companies like LinkedIn, Xamarin, and Activision Blizzard for a record 70 billion dollars. Microsoft has also increased its computing platform and infrastructure for its services like Xbox office 365 and Bing. Despite working for Microsoft he is also a board of directors in multiple firms like Starbucks and the University of Chicago.

Since he became the CEO he has received an annual pay of 84 million dollars but in 2021 received a salary of 350 million dollars. When Satya Nadella started working as Microsoft’s CEO its total market capitalization was around 300 billion dollars but currently, Microsoft’s market capitalization is more than two trillion dollars. Microsoft was also one of the fastest companies to cross a one trillion dollar valuation by beating Apple and Amazon.

Before Satya Nadella became the CEO Microsoft’s revenue was mainly coming from windows devices and office subscriptions but since then he has joined Microsoft and has also increased its cloud-generated revenue. Satya Nadella believes that Microsoft cloud businesses can take it to much bigger heights.
