I had an interview for a React.js developer at a company called Opstree Solution. My interviewer gave me a simple task without even asking about my introduction. He didn’t even introduce himself, I was like ok no problem. While I was solving the question given by him he asked me to turn on my camera and share my screen. Below is the question he gave me:

Step 1:

  • Create a component to add a car to a list of Cars.
  • Fields that are required as attributes of a car are Name, Model, and Quantity.

Step 2:

  • Create another component that will display the list of cars.

Step 3:

On adding the car of the same Brand and Model, quantity should be added to the existing Car Object instead of creating a new Car Object in the list.

After 20-22 minutes I completed my assignment but I have a doubt about step 3. So I asked him but he didn’t respond, I thought maybe there was some issue so, I messaged him at the meeting too but even this time he didn’t respond.

Half an hour passed I was still waiting. I understand he wasn’t there. He assigned me a question and left. Maybe he thought his camera was off and I won’t get to know if he was there or not. Then finally he came back and asked if I finished or not, I told him everything. After explaining he said I’m leaving now, you can send me the assignment after completing it via email. Then I sent it but haven’t received any reply yet.

An interviewer should be present during the entire meeting. You cannot hang a student midway. It is no big deal for you but yes it is a big deal for him or her. This is the career-changing point in their life where they finally become independent and enhance their skills and knowledge.
