NDA (National Defence Academy) exam is conducted twice yearly by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to recruit in the Indian Navy, Indian Army, and Airforce. NDA salary 2024 is given as per the 7th pay commission that is a good pay scale. NDA salary 2024 varies from 56,100 to 2,24,400 per month. During training period, NDA officers get the salary 56,100 per month. The chief of Army Staff (COAS) will get the highest salary of NDA . The amount of COAS’s salary per month is 2,50,000 which is fixed salary.

NDA Training Period Salary

A candidate will be selected for NDA training after completing NDA written exam and interview. At the time of training period, an NDA candidate gets Rs.56,100 per month. NDA training period salary is allotted as per the pay level of 10.

Several factors in NDA Salary

NDA officer’s salary is influenced by the several factors. These factors are described below –

  1. Allowances : One of the influenced factors is Allowance. NDA officers get Allowances ( like DA,TA, MSP, HRA etc) according to their posting areas and work difficulties. Those officers who are posted in Siachen or any other sensible ares , are given higher allowances.
  2. Ranks of Officers : The most important factor in NDA Salary is officer’s rank. NDA officers get salary according to their ranks. Higher rank holder officers get higher basic pay.
  3. Year of Service and Promotion : This is an another important factor that is influenced in NDA salary. NDA salary is increased of the NDA officers according to their promotion and year of service.

Military Service Pay ( MSP)

Military Service Pay that is also known as MSP, is fixed amount for the NDA officers. The amount of MSP is allotted for NDA officers is Rs. 15,500 per month. Lieutenant to Brigadier ranks officers are benefitted by MSP.

Retirement Benefits

Several benefits will be provided to the NDA officers after their retirement. The retirement Benefits are –

  1. Pension
  2. Gratuity
  3. Casualty Pensionary Award.

NDA Other Allowance

NDA officers get the other few allowances along with the Allowances mentioned above. These other allowances are –

Ration :

Ration allowances are provided to the Field Area and Peace area’s defence officers every month.

Hostel Subsidy :

Hostel Subsidy is admissible from nursery to class 12th child of NDA officers. The amount of hostel Subsidy is Rs. 6750 per month per child for two eldest surviving only.

Children Education loan :

Children Education loan is admissible from nursery to class 12th children same as the hostel Subsidy. The amount is rs.2250 per month per child for two eldest surviving only.

Uniform allowance :

An amount of rs. 20,000 is paid for the uniform to the NDA officers.

NDA Monetary Support

The following monetary supports are given to the NDA officers in case of their death or disablement.

  • Death : Rs. 15 lakh is paid to the Next of Kin (NoK) as Ex-gratia for the death of NDA officer.
  • Disablement : Monetary Support is provided in accordance of the percentage disablement. If the disability is less than 20%, then there is no disablement award. If the disability is 100%, then they will get Rs. 16,200 per month as Ex-gratia.

NDA Insurance policy

NDA Insurance policy structure is described below –

Army Group Insurance Fund

Insurance amount of Rs. 15 lakh will be provided to the NDA officers on payment of a one time premium of Rs. 7,200 for 3 years ( pre commission training period). This premium amount is non-refundable. If any cadets want lower term premium, he has to pay Rs. 1355 as an additional premium.

  • Less than 20% disability cadets get an Ex-gratia of Rs. 50,000 for the first 2 years and Rs. 1 lakh for the last (third) year.
  • 20% disability cadets will get Rs. 3 lakh.
  • 100% disability cadets will get Rs. 15 lakh.

Lady/Gentleman Cadets

During pre-commission training, lady/gentleman are insured for Rs.1 crore on payment of Rs. 10,000 per month.

  • Less than 20% disability cadets get Rs. 50,000
  • 20% disability cadets get Rs. 5 lakh.
  • 100% disability cadets get Rs. 25 lakh.

Exceptional cases

If the disability is happened due to alcoholism, drug addicts or pre existing condition , then the cadet is not eligible for the insurance funds.

Indian government pays the cost of training of the NDA officers. Govt. Pays cost of training along with the boarding, accomodation, uniforms, medical treatment etc.
