Welcome to my blog! I’m thrilled to share my journey working at Informatica, specifically focusing on Master Data Management (MDM). At Informatica, I am a part of the Master Data Management (MDM) team, diving deep into the architecture and processes that make this platform a leader in the industry. Working with Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS):

Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) is a cloud-based platform that provides a comprehensive suite of products and solutions for data integration and application integration. This subscription-based service allows organizations to connect to various data sources, process the data, and load it into different destinations. It’s a crucial tool for businesses seeking to migrate data between databases, conduct data warehousing, or perform business intelligence operations.

Getting Started with IICS:

When I first joined Informatica, I had to understand the basics of IICS, including its architecture, connectors, and key functionalities. Connectors are an essential part of IICS, enabling users to create connections to data sources, whether they are on-premises, in the cloud, or a combination of both. This flexibility makes IICS an excellent choice for organizations that rely on diverse data ecosystems.

Master Data Management (MDM) and Beyond:

As a member of the MDM team, I had to quickly grasp the MDM domain, its architecture, and the products built on top of it, such as Customer 360 and Reference 360. MDM is a complex field that requires an understanding of databases, data relationships, and governance. My initial days involved intensive learning and exploration to familiarize myself with these concepts.

My Role in the MDM Team:

I am part of First Customer Team(FCT), focusing on in-depth functional and UI testing. This role required a solid understanding of Java, as the automation framework was built with this language. Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and advanced Java features was crucial for my work. Additionally, I had to learn other languages like Python, JavaScript for end-to-end development.

Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC):

Working in a product-based company like Informatica meant engaging with the software development life cycle (SDLC). Concepts like requirement analysis, Agile methodology, and daily scrum meetings became part of my daily routine. This exposure allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios, enhancing my understanding of software engineering.

Challenges and Rewards:

The work at Informatica was challenging but rewarding. I was tasked with validating use cases, creating automated tests, and raising Jira tickets for any issues discovered. Along with my primary responsibilities, I was also assigned side projects that required working with YAML files and managing Jenkins pipelines to track automation results.

Additional Learning Opportunities:

• My role at Informatica also involved learning new tools and practices:
• Jira: For bug and task tracking.
• Jenkins: For build automation and continuous integration.
• Git: For version control and collaborative development.
• These tools played a vital role in my work, allowing me to maintain code quality, track progress, and collaborate effectively with my team.

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work at Informatica. The experience helped me discover new skills and refine the ones I already had. I made valuable connections with colleagues who supported me throughout my journey. I learned far more than I expected when I first joined, and I’m thrilled with the expertise I’ve developed.
