I am in the third year of my graduation from GEHU, Dehradun where I am pursuing a B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering. Overall, the college experience till now is good.

About the campus:

It is situated in the state of Dehradun. Its location is very good as near to the bus station and railway station. It was established on April 28, 2011. It occupies 8 acres of land only. The campus represents various disciplines and branches. It has normal classrooms, laboratories, an open auditorium, and a closed auditorium with large seating, a badminton court, a library, a placement cell, and a campus canteen that serves tasty meals. Buddha temple is within walking distance and many students go there to enjoy themselves.

Admission Experience :

It is very easy to gain admission to GEHU. If anyone gets more than 70% in class 12 then they can admission here. As it is state government affiliated, provides a variety of scholarship like if you are from Uttarakhand then 25% fee deduction, they provides scholarships to girls, army brats, siblings, and scholarships based on the number you get in class 12.

If you have a referral by any student or faculty then it’s much easier to take admission otherwise you have to wait longer.

First-Year Experience:

My first year of college was in online and offline mode, I made new acquaintances and got to know seniors who helped me fit in. In my first year, I got to know about many technologies. I met seniors working on different technologies and they guided me about them. I started developing an interest in Web Development and learned about various concepts from YouTube. Some teachers were good and taught even the most difficult subjects in the easiest manner possible while others were not that qualified. The labs were conducted weekly where the focus was maintained on practical knowledge apart from the theoretical classes. Students were very energetic in their first year.

Second and Third-Year Experience:

The second and third-year classes were offline. And placement cell is active and teachers motivate us to study hard and achieve highness in life. Now companies re coming for internships/ hiring. They are placement classes, career skills lab to make us job ready candidate.

There is too much intake of students in B. Tech and there is no free classes so that student can utilise their free time. In library also, we cannot issue more than 5 books and we cannot take entry in college from entrance. There is strict rule of 75% attendance. If someone fails to fulfill then he/she gets debarred. Mini Projects are evaluated strictly and many tech related hackathons, contest are organised by clubs. This college primarily focuses on study and less number of fest and events.
