Google’s AI-powered note taking app is now available for all users

NotebookLM is also getting a feature that transforms your notes into another type of document.

Google announced on Friday that its AI note-taking app is now available to all US adults aged 18 and up. New Google big language model Gemini Pro will now be used in the test app to “help with document understanding and reasoning.” A lot of new tools will be added to it as well.

In NotebookLM, when you add papers, the app can quickly recap them and use what they say to figure out what questions to ask next. Because that’s all NotebookLM does when you give it papers to look at. On the contrary, generic robots look at a lot of data that isn’t connected. Google is only adding new tools to the app right now, noting that they are not notes or questions.

With the new tools in NotebookLM, users can now organize their carefully chosen notes into projects that are ready to be written. If you have some notes, NotebookLM can take them and make something new out of them, like a play outline, an email magazine, or a draft of a market plan.

What you’re doing at the moment can now also make it suggest things to do. Let’s say you read a source and stopped on a line. In an instant, it will offer to either help you understand what the text means or summarize it in a new note. Well, let’s say you’re writing it down. Depending on what you’ve written so far, it will help you make your writing better or find similar ideas in the sources you’ve used.

You will be able to quickly pin your own notes or chat quotes to the new noteboard area that Google is adding. Users asked for more room so they could save their NotebookLM chats as notes, according to Google.

Two or three other small things about the job are also changing at Google. You will now add a note to a different notepad instead of the current one when you add one. Now, when you click on the citation number in a chat response or a saved note, you may go directly to the source of a quote.

Anyone who just wants to take notes can now hide the source. You can pick out single sources in your notebook’s source tab and tell NotebookLM’s AI to talk to them if you only want to talk to a certain group of them. Even PDFs and copied text work better now thanks to Google. New sources can now be made by copying and pasting text, and the name can be changed after it’s been made.

But Google is also putting limits on what it can do along with adding new tools. Up to 200,000 words can now be in each source, and each notebook can hold 20 sources.

Few people were able to use NotebookLM for about five months before the tech giant shut it down. After this is the news for today. Earlier this year, Google showed off a “AI notebook for everyone” at Google I/O. Plan Tailwind was the name of it. NotebookLM is now its name. So, Google told the students that they could use the app to keep their class notes and other chores in order.
