I’m currently pursuing my B.Tech at Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering for Women in the branch of Information Technology. Overall, the college ranking is good and it stands as a well-reputed institution. The founding members of Gayatri Vidya Parishad have laid a strong foundation to create the necessary academic infrastructure to deliver value-based education at all levels. The faculty and the Head of the department always try to engage students in various technical activities like hackathons, workshops, and publishing research articles.

About the campus:

The campus is divided into different blocks indicating different branches and their department libraries. It has solar-powered panels and wind power generators for the production of electricity, modern classrooms, high-tech laboratories, a huge library, seminar halls for a variety of club discussions, a placement cell, and a campus canteen that serves healthy meals.

First-Year Experience:

My first year of college was of many ups and downs entwined with laughter, curiosity and often confusion. I met new people, made friends with people who helped me fit in a new place and environment and interacted with them to learn about college and its student club. I got a chance to learn many new things every day and so many of them made me wonder “Wait what? I didn’t even know it existed” until I programmed my first set of “Hello Worlds” and “Sum of 2 Numbers”. Faculty members are very supportive and encouraging by making us learn new things easily to create much complexity in our brains and they are so resourceful in providing different kinds of examples. Labs are conducted regularly and some labs make you fall in love with the subject group discussions and presentation sessions helped a lot in developing soft skills. Weekly Q&A sessions are everything except entertainment because you interact with teachers on one and get doubts clarified and being asked questions by faculty tests our knowledge on the subject and helps us to improve. Each student also received individual support from allotted coordinators, which helped them in both their academic and extracurricular activities. The most un-exciting part is that the non-technical fest that the institution organizes is very little apart from Club Inauguration and celebrating significant days.

Second and Third-Year Experience:

The second and third-year classes are where we all can understand what Engineering is about what are you going to do in future and what the applications of learning those subjects. I got introduced to a whole new set of terminologies and subjects about what happens behind a computer screen, how our information is stored and how can we access hardware and software for storage purposes in a virtual environment keeping these aside there is whole a new chapter at another corner of the room i.e. AI(Artificial Intelligence), ML(Machine Learning) which exposes you the world. The most enjoyable part is attending workshops and gaining knowledge, participating in Hackathons, and Coding contests where you can connect with people who share the same interests as you and help you to improve. Our general academic curriculum aligns with all domains in which students can be interested for example domains like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, Cyber Security etc.

Placements

Overall placements track record is good and the institution makes sure to focus on every student to get placed it also helps students who are interested in higher education and overseas education and promotes them. The institution’s training and placement are very good and competent and it trains the students according to their interests cracks technical rounds and job interviews.
