Cognum Interview Experience for Software Engineer Intern

Cognum is a Delhi-based company, it came to our campus(IIPS, DAVV Indore) for placement. around 200 students enrolled for this company. There were Eligibility criteria for this company which are

• 10th and 12th percentages must be greater than or equal to 60%
• Current CGPA >= 6.0 or 60%

There were total 3 rounds

Round 1 – Online Assessment Test

There were different sections each having around 15 questions except the coding round. and the time limit is around 15- 25 minutes

Front end(MCQ)

Aptitude(MCQ) – basic questions were asked on percentage, Height, and distance, some reasoning questions were also there

Front end (MCQ) – some questions on React were there like what does render() do?

You can take breaks in between sections timer starts when we start a particular section.

Coding (45mins )-

There were two questions both of them were of easy level.

you can choose any programming language for writing the code c++, java, javascript, and python options were there

the first question was whether you have denominations of coins of rupees and paise. and in the input no of available coins of each denomination were given you have to print the output the total amount in rupees.

the second question was a simple one which was easily done by HashMap

Round 2- Technical Interview

It was almost 1 hour long on Google Meet.

First, they asked me to introduce myself.

then they asked which is my primary programming language I answered i am confident in Java

There were three interviewers.

• they asked me questions on OOPS like the basic concept of oops, and interface vs class, they asked me to open Notepad and explain all there four concepts polymorphism (overriding and overloading) , encapsulation, abstraction, and inheritance.
• What is Exceptional Handling what are the ways of doing that in Java
• difference between throw and throws
• how do we create a custom exception
• then asked me basic queries of SQL like getting the top n records from a table
• the interview went well and they seemed to be satisfied by my answers.
• at last, they asked do you have any questions? then I asked the interviewer – what are the different technologies that we can work in cognum ?

That’s all about technical interviews.

Round 3- HR Interview

The duration of this interview was of around 30 minutes

they were just asking me a general introduction and where I live, where is my hometown, how far it is from the current city, and on what technologies I would like to work on

they asked me what subjects you have learned during your academics. then he asked me have learned computer networking ,he asked me how do we get IP addresses in Linux (command- ifconfig) and some more basic questions on networking were there.

the interview went pretty well.

at last, I asked how is the work culture in cognum?

The interviewer was very friendly.
