Character design is an essential part of many creative industries, especially in animation, video games & storytelling. It refers to the process of creating & understanding the look, understanding of the look & characteristics of characters both fictional & non-fiction in a story & visual presentation. The primary goal of character design is to bring life to characters through the visual representation of their physical characteristics, unique characteristics, body language & overall attitude. In many cases, designers work directly with writers, and creators to make sure the characters match the story theme setting & target audience.

Generally, character design starts with brainstorming & brainstorming is the process of outlining initial ideas to determine a character’s basic characteristics. This stage may include thinking about the character’s history, motivation, mistakes & place in the story.   • Iconic characters: These figures represent specific characteristics represent larger concepts. These figures can become iconic & immediately recognizable. They are commonly found in myths, legends & folklore.

  • Stereotypes can be reinforced by bad character design which can lead to preconceived notions & preconceived notions.
  • Aesthetics can take a back seat to character depth & story resulting in shallow engagement.
  • Designs that lack cultural sensitivity can cause unintentional insults & about a particular cultural group.
  • In many cases budget & time limitations limit the complexity & detail of complex character designs.

  • Mickey mouse: Mickey mouse is one of the most recognizable & well known character in the world. Mickey mouse was first created by Walt Disney in the early 1930s & later in the 1940s he was reimagined by the American animator Ub Inwerks.
  • Super mario: Shigeru Miyamoto original designs for Mario & his characters have a unique look that has stayed with us ever since. Their designs extend beyond gaming, to movies & more.
  • Batman: The design of the Batman character was first introduced in Bob Kane & Bill Finger’s Batman comics in the early 1970s.
