9th August, 2024,Chandigarh University Campus, Mohali, Punjab, 140413- First day of college

95.5% in ISC class 12 board examination and 93percentile in JEE mains 2023 and 4257 rank in WBJEE, i was still unable to get CSE in any of the prestigious GFTI or NITs except for NIT Sikkim. Despite being able to get civil, mechanical and other courses in some of the NITs and CSE in all the colleges of West Bengal except for Jadavpur and Calcutta university, i still choose to pursue my CSE from Chandigarh University.

Chandigarh University is Tier 3 college with NAAC A+ rating. The curriculum is very basic and not very helpful in the industry but it surely provides a very vast campus and lots of people of network with. CU provides all kinds of opportunities, all a person need to do is go and grab them.

It was the end of spring, and i was looking for colleges to pursue my CSE. I happen to come across Chandigarh University and was very fascinated by it because of its campus size, its reviews, the fees structure and the NAAC rating. compared to other colleges, I was inclined towards CU.

While going through their website, i came across a phone number, i gave to call on that number to know all the details about the college and the admission process. Thankfully, the admission process was all online.

The process of admission was:

  • I had to register myself with my mail ID .
  • Pay the application fee of 1000INR to book myself a seat.
  • After paying the admission fee, an entrance exam, called the CUCET was conducted.
  • The exam was to determine the amount of scholarship a student will be receiving, according to their performance.
  • Scholarship on the basis of Class 12 board examination percentage is also applicable.

I was able to get a 50% scholarship in CU on the basis of my Class 12 percentage.

After that, you are required to pay a security deposit of 10,000 INR (which is refundable, incase of withdrawal of admission).

You are also asked to choose to stay in the CU hostel or become a day scholar. After all the formalities you are asked to pay the semester fee and the hostel fee and the process ends here.

Then you might receive some phone called from the counsellor regarding some minor option checking and other formalities.

You will be given a date of start of classes and hence your college life will begin from there.

Overall, Chandigarh University is good if you want to or if you do not want to study. It all dpends on the student. If a student wants to crack something big, they will take out time from their daily life and make their dreams come true.

I’d like to conclude my experience by advising that, do as much upskilling as possible, do DSA, make real world problem solving projects along with small projects, do internship, gain experience, participate in hackathons, SIH, GSOC, MLM, attain a position of responsibility in one of the societies in your college, do as much networking as possible, do public speaking, play a sport, make memories, stop being lazy and get disciplined, and lastly STAY CONSISTENT.
