Hi Everyone, in this article I will be sharing my interview experience for the role of Senior Software Engineer in Test at Arcesium.

So, starting with the interview experience, the recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn sharing the opportunity. He was super helpful in the entire process. He asked for some information and after a quick call, the profile was shortlisted.

Round 1: Hackerrank Test

The first step in the hiring process was a Hackerrank test which consisted of 2 coding questions. The test included MCQs as well on software testing.

Round 2: Coding Interview

After clearing the Hackerrank test, you move to interview round 1. The interview had questions on coding problems using DSA as well as automation testing. He also asked questions about my current role in the company, roles and responsibilities, and to explain the existing automation framework. A few behavioral questions were also asked, like challenges faced and how they were overcome.

Round 3: Hiring Manager Interview

After clearing the interview round 2, the next was round 3. In the hiring manager round, I was asked about my current work, projects that I have worked on, and questions on the tech stack in detail. The questions asked were a mix of database questions, test case writing, and testing methodology questions. For example: Test cases on cash withdrawal at an ATM, how indexing in a Database works, what the trim function is used for in strings, a DSA problem on finding the missing element from an unsorted integer array, a DSA problem on the number of occurrences of characters in the given sentence, and a small puzzle. This was a lengthy round as the interviewer delved deep into questions to assess my technical skills.

Round 4: Interview with Developer

I had cleared the hiring manager round, so proceeded toward round 4, which was an interview with a developer. I was given a DSA problem based on dynamic programming. I shared a couple of approaches as solutions, but the interviewer was very firm that he wanted only the answers he expected. So he was hesitant to accept other solution approaches.

Result: So I was not able to clear round 4.

Tips:

  • Prepare your resume well.
  • Prepare DSA questions of LeetCode medium to hard level. Sometimes easy questions might also be asked.
  • Prepare questions based on testing methodologies and automation.
  • Speak out whatever you are thinking, it helps the interviewer to understand and they might give you a few hints.
  • Resources on YouTube and interview experiences at GeeksforGeeks helped me a lot in this preparation.

Overall, apart from round 4, all the other rounds went very well, and the recruiter was also very helpful.

Thanks and Best wishes!
