Synopsis – For the time being WhatsApp will not be offering animated emojis, rather the users will have an option to react to a message with regular emojis. Reportedly, if a user wants to react to a message they will need to tap on that particular message and they’ll see an emoji box being displayed on the screen. The user then will be supposed to choose an emoji from the box after which it will stick to the message.

Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp is rolling out a message reaction feature for Android Beta users as testing. The company has joined other platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Telegram, and Signal which already provide this service to their users on mobile as well as on web versions.

For the time being WhatsApp will not be offering animated emojis, rather the users will have an option to react to a message with regular emojis. Reportedly, if a user wants to react to a message they will need to tap on that particular message and they’ll see an emoji box being displayed on the screen. The user then will be supposed to choose an emoji from the box after which it will stick to the message.

WABetaInfo reported that initially, the service will begin with only six reactions that will include ‘Like, Love, Laugh, Surprised, Sad, and Thanks’. Meanwhile, Telegram offers 10 emojis for reactions to its users while Instagram DM (Direct Message) section offers unlimited emojis to its users.

Currently, the feature is only available for Android beta users as it is in the testing period. Later on, it will be available to 2.22.8.3 and other users in a phased manner. However, it is uncertain whether the feature will be available for the chat options such as individual and group chat.

Apart from this, the company recently launched a stable version for its multi-device feature which is no more available for the beta mode. It was having bugs and was creating issues while syncing all the chats across devices. The newer version works smoothly and supports chat syncing on 5 devices at the same time.

With a requirement of using primary devices to access the platform on any device for the initial linking process. After this, the user will not be needed to repeat the same process. Users can access the multi-device feature through the ‘Linked Devices’ option in the settings menu.

The instant messaging giant has been mulling the rolling out of the feature for quite a while. Yet, it is not available for all the users and is in the testing phase. As per the reports, the feature of reacting to messaging will be available to all the users in the upcoming months.
