Answer: The full name of CO2 is carbon dioxide

The molecule is composed of one atom of carbon (C) and two atoms of oxygen (O). Hence, it is called carbon dioxide. The chemical formula is CO2. Usually, carbon dioxide is in a gaseous state. Living organisms inhale Oxygen and breath out carbon dioxide.

In Carbon dioxide molecules, have one atom of carbon forms covalently bonds with two atoms of oxygen resulting into CO2. In the atmosphere, it is transparent and dissolved in water, as found mostly in groundwater sources. By capturing this carbon dioxide, plants convert them into vital oxygen that gets breathed by living organisms.

Moreover, CO2 in atmosphere acts as shield maintaining an appropriate temperature on earth. This phenomena is also known as green house effect. This pollution causing climate changes to earth today is released by some human activities.

It is an important component in the earth system. There are both positives and negatives but once we understand what they cause we can change our ways for a natural world.
