Synopsis – Making the announcement ‘about the company’s approach and commitment to truly flexible work’, Agrawal tweeted addressing the Twitter employees, “Business travel is back effective immediately, and all global Twitter offices will open starting on March 15.” The Twitter CEO left the decision of workplace preference on the employees.

Microblogging platform Twitter is planning to reopen its offices globally from March 15, also making the Work From Home (WFH) option available for employees. Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal took the microblogging platform to make the announcement through a series of tweets. Besides this, Google has also reportedly asked its employees to return to offices from April 4 in order to end the WFH system.

Making the announcement ‘about the company’s approach and commitment to truly flexible work’, Agrawal tweeted addressing the Twitter employees,

“Business travel is back effective immediately, and all global Twitter offices will open starting on March 15.” The Twitter CEO left the decision of workplace preference on the employees. He stated, “Decisions about where you work, whether you feel safe traveling for business, and what events you attend, should be yours.”

Further adding in the thread, he mentioned the criteria of an ‘Ideal Workplace adding the policy of ‘WFH full-time forever’. He said, “Wherever you feel most productive and creative is where you will work and that includes WFH full-time forever. Distributed working will be challenging.”

Stressing on the challenges of WFH, the Twitter chief mentioned the employees will need to be “proactive, intentional, learn, and adapt.” This comes as an observation that he made for speculating how the workplace scenario would look like when some employees will be in the office and rest in the WFH mode.

Although, in the Twitter post, Agrawal showed his excitement about reopening the offices. He had also written,

“Office visits, team meetings, and events all bring that culture to life in such a powerful way, and I can’t wait to see it all happen.”

While winding up the post, Agrawal mentioned that the details about “logistics, dates, safety measures, and work, will be deliberated to employees through further communication.”

Alongside, joining the companies entering work from office mode, Google has also asked the employees to return to the offices. As per reports in the United States (US) media, the company is making the decision as the Covid-19 cases are showing the declining trend.

Initially, Google will be opening its offices in the Bay Area and the plans to reopen them in other places will be decided after the review of situations. The company will begin with a hybrid for the transition to new routines. However, the employees who will be joining the work in the office will be mandated to be vaccinated against Covid-19, and also, they will need to wear masks in the office.

Currently, most employers are considering calling their employees back to offices as the Covid-19 cases are seeing the dip world over. Recently, Meta (formerly Facebook) also made a similar announcement. Meta has asked employees to come to the offices after taking a booster shot of Covid-19 Vaccine.
