1. Banyan Tree- In India’s tropical regions, often a huge tree that can be seen is the Banyan Tree. It grows up to several meters and can be seen having many aerial roots arising out its branches.

2. Neem Tree- A large and evergreen tree found in South East Asia, is the Neem tree which is known to have medicinal value.

3. Oak Tree– Hailing from the Northern Hemisphere, the oak tree (Quercus) is a huge deciduous tree. Its known for its unique foliage, robust wood, and acorns. Oaks are one of the most widespread and significant trees found in the world.

4. Sandalwood Tree- Even though the sandalwood trees that we see around us are quite short, but they can reach a maximum height of upto 15 meters (50 feet). It has flowers in the colours of light yellow & white. Its leaves are tiny and oval-shaped. Its fruit is dark purple in colour, with a tiny drupe. The growth period of a sandalwood tree is quite slow, it is seen that it takes up to 20 years to reach full maturity.

5. Banana Tree (Musa spp.) is a big, herbaceous flowering plant, with its origin in tropical Southeast Asia. It is one of the most widely grown crops in the world.

6. Mango Tree- Amongst the most densely planted trees that can be seen in India is the Mango tree which gives mangoes, that is the ‘king of fruits’ in India. Mango trees can live upto 100 years with a height reaching up to 40 meters (130 feet). They have leathery and dark green leaves with dense, shaded canopies.

Tamarind is an edible fruit with a pulpy, sweet, and a sour substance that is used in various dishes, drinks, and traditional treatments.

11. Papaya Trees usually have a shorter height, of up to 10 metres (33 ft). They have large, palmately lobed leaves with a hollow, unbranched trunk. Papaya trees are dioecious, both male & female. Pollen is derived from the male trees & we get fruits from female trees. .

12. Sheesham Tree have a broad canopy with a height that can reach up to 30 metres (100 feet). There are three to seven leaflets in the complex leaves which are often found together in pink or white colours. The sheesham tree has Legumes- long, flat pods which have seeds, from one up to twelve, which can be seen within.
