I am currently studying at Pimpri Chinchwad College of Pune (PCCOE) in the Computer Science and Engineering(Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) department and I am Vice president of PCCOE’s GeeksforGeeks Student Chapter. I will share my interview experience and motivation to take responsibility for this student chapter and how Geeksforgeeks student chapter helped me to grow up technically as well as gave me the confidence and skills I needed to succeed in a competitive field.

How did it start?

The journey started when one of our project teammates came across the information that Geeksforgeeks offers the student chapters to the colleges which helps to create a coding culture in the college and grow the knowledge among the students. After getting the information about the chapter we did more research about whether this chapter is available in other colleges or not how the events are conducted how the GeeksforGeeks Student chapter helps in their career and pursuing goals. Also, we reached out to the leads and co-leads of the GeeksForGeeks Student chapters of the other colleges and asked how they initiated the chapter. Then after gathering the information, we conveyed these to the department and after some days of discussion, we took the initiative to establish a chapter in the department that would help to grow the students. After that one of my peers wrote the mail to GeeksForGeeks for the student chapter to establishment and after passing 4 – 5 days GeeksForGeeks replied to the mail and an interview was scheduled.

Finally, after 15 – 20 days, the GeeksForGeeks Student chapter was established, and the recruitment was started after then I applied for the Vice President, Technical Head, and Co-Technical Head. During the interview, there were Behavioral questions like “Why do you want to lead the chapter”, and “How will you manage the team members” and some technical set of questions. After some days results were announced and I was selected as Vice president of the chapter.

I was very happy and excited to lead the chapter after getting to know that I was selected as vice president. The motivation behind leading the chapter was to provide opportunities for the students to grow technically and gain the confidence to participate in technical events.

Thank you!
