Optum: United Health Group Interview Experience (On-Campus 2019)

Round 1: APTITUDE + CODING TEST

The first round comprised of a total of 32 Questions (30 Aptitude + 2 Coding)

The aptitude part was dominant as most of the questions were based on Data Interpretation(Graphs, Pie charts etc.) and demanded good time management. For the 30 aptitude questions the time allowed was 30 minutes.

The coding questions were really easy to solve. 30 minutes for 2 coding questions and I was able to solve both of them in under 10 minutes.

Question 1: To check if numbers at even indices of an array were even or not.

Question 2: Tomohiko Sakamoto’s Algorithm: https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/tomohiko-sakamotos-algorithm-finding-day-week/

Out of 200 students 8 were shortlisted because of the difficulty level of the aptitude test and I was lucky enough to get through.

Round 2: TECHNICAL INTERVIEW

The interview was resume based and most of the questions asked were based on my projects and the technologies that I had worked on. The interview was 50 minutes to 1 hour long.

After exploring my projects the interview asked me about basic Data structures and OOPS concepts like polymorphism, Exception handling in JAVA, connections in JDBC.

In the end I just asked him about his experience at UHG and this was the end of my technical interview.

After this I was shortlisted for the managerial round.

Round 3: MANAGERIAL ROUND

If you’ve got through the first 2 rounds then this confirms 90% of your chance of selection. In this round questions about my hobbies were asked.

Common managerial questions like:

1.Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

2.How would you manage a given situation at the office?

3.Biggest achievement in your life?

4.Strengths and weaknesses?

and things like that.

This was a 15 minute interview and I was shortlisted for the HR round.

Round 4: HR Round.

This round had 2-3 questions about my family background and my job location preference.

This interview lasted around 5 minutes and then the final decision was given.

Out of the 8 shortlisted candidates 4 were selected.
