This tradition is exclusive to the Indian stock markets and is not observed elsewhere in the world. The specific timing of the Muhurat Trading session is announced by the stock exchanges each year. It typically falls in the evening hours on the day of Diwali. For example, in 2023, the Muhurat Trading session was held on November 12th, with timings for both NSE and BSE as follows:
