How Many Times Can We Give JEE Mains?

IIT JEE Main Eligibility Criteria

As per the JEE Main 2024 eligibility criteria, the candidates have to fulfill all the basic criteria. These criteria ensures that only eligible candidates are called to appear and attempt the JEE examination:

Age limitThere is no age limit.
Qualifying ExaminationCandidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examinations from a recognized board.
Year of Passing the Qualifying ExaminationCandidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination in 2022, 2023, or are appearing for it in 2024 will only be eligible for JEE Main 2024.
Number of Subjects in the Qualifying ExamThe candidates should have qualified in 5 subjects:

Admission Criteria for IITs, NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs
For B.Tech/B.Arch/B.Plan admissions– Minimum 75% marks (65% for SC/ST category candidates) or should fall under the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.
For B.Arch admission in institutes other than IIITs, NITs, and CFTIs– 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in 10+2 or equivalent.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main Paper 2 and 3

  1. Total Attempts:
    • Candidates are allowed to appear for JEE Main for three consecutive years.
  2. Educational Qualifications:
    • The candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry individually.
    • Additionally, a candidate must have obtained an aggregate of at least 50% marks in the qualifying examination.
  3. Subject Specifics:
    • Mathematics is compulsory for candidates applying for B.Arch./B.Planning courses.

JEE Main Reservation Criteria

When offering admissions through JEE Main, the exam authority complies with to the reservation guidelines established by the Indian government. In accordance with the categorical reservation policy, all India ranks will be offered. The following are the categories’ percentage reservations for JEE Main 2024 admissions:

  • OBC – NCL candidates: 27% reservation
  • SC candidates: 15% reservation
  • ST candidates: 7.5% reservation
  • PwD candidates: 5% reservation
  • GEN-EWS candidates: 10% reservation
  • Women candidates: 5% reservation
