JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2024 (Criterion 2) – Age Limit

  • Candidates must be born on or after October 1, 1999, to be eligible for JEE Advanced attempts.
  • There is a relaxation of 5 years for SC, ST, and PwD candidates, allowing those born on or after October 1, 1994, to qualify for attempts.

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2024 (Criterion 3) – Number of Attempts

  • JEE Advanced candidates have the opportunity to take the exam for two consecutive years.

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2023 (Criterion 4) – Class 12 Examination

Students who took their class 10+2 exams in 2023 or 2024, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, are eligible for JEE Advanced. However, candidates who appeared for the exam in 2022 or earlier do not meet the eligibility criteria.

Additionally, if the results for the academic year 2021-22 were declared on or after September 21, 2022, candidates from that board who appeared for their 12th standard exam in 2022 can be considered eligible for JEE Advanced 2024, provided they meet other criteria. However, if the class 12th exam results for the academic year 2020-2021 were declared before September 21, 2021, but a candidate’s result was withheld, they would not be eligible for JEE Advanced 2024.

These criteria help determine eligibility based on the timing of the 10+2 exam and result declarations, ensuring a clear understanding for prospective JEE Advanced candidates.

Following Qualifications will be Considered Equivalent to 12 Class Qualification

  • Completion of the final examination in the 10+2 system from a Central or State Board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Successful completion of the Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a Board or University recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
  • Graduation from the final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
  • Passing the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Recognition of any Public School, Board, or University examination in India or a foreign country as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the AIU.
  • Successful completion of the H.S.C. vocational examination.
  • Possession of a diploma recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or a State Board of Technical Education, with a duration of at least 3 years.
  • Attainment of the General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London, Cambridge, or Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • Successful completion of the High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or possession of the International Baccalaureate Diploma from the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

Marks Required in Class 12 for JEE Advanced 2024

  • To secure admission into IITs, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2024. Additionally, aspirants can check the JEE Advanced eligibility marks to understand the minimum scores required in their class 12 exams.
  • For JEE Advanced, a 12th percentage of 75% is necessary for General and OBC candidates, while SC/ST candidates need a 65% score.
  • Being within the top 20 percentile of their qualifying examination is also a crucial requirement.
  • When calculating aggregate marks, candidates should consider scores in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Language, and one additional subject.

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2024 Relaxation

Students who registered for JEE Advanced 2023 but were absent for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 are still eligible for JEE Advanced 2023. They don’t need to meet eligibility criteria 1 to 4 mentioned earlier. However, they must register successfully on the online portal for JEE Advanced and pay the required registration fee.

This means if you registered but couldn’t attend the exams, you still have a chance to participate in JEE Advanced 2023 by fulfilling the registration process. Remember to complete the online registration and payment to ensure your eligibility for the upcoming exams.

Candidates Who Took Admission Earlier at IIT

Students who got admission to an IIT through JoSAA 2023 are not eligible for JEE Advanced 2024, regardless of whether they continued in the program or not. This also applies to those who accepted an IIT seat by reporting at a center in the past.

Additionally, candidates whose admission to an IIT was canceled after joining won’t be eligible for JEE Advanced 2024.

However, there are exceptions. Candidates admitted to a preparatory course in any IIT for the first time in 2023 can appear for JEE Advanced 2024. Also, candidates who paid the seat acceptance fee in JoSAA 2023 may be eligible if they meet any of the following conditions:

  • They did not report at any reporting centers.
  • They withdrew before the last round of seat allotment.
  • Their seat was canceled (for any reason) before the final round of seat allotment.

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2024 for Foreign Students

The application process for JEE Advanced 2024 is available for all Indian citizens. Notably, international candidates, constituting less than 10% of the SNQ, are also eligible to apply. It’s crucial for candidates to have finished their Class 12 exams in the academic year 2024-2025. If you fall into either category, you can participate in the application process to pursue your academic goals through JEE Advanced 2024.

Factors that Determine the JEE Advanced Cutoff

  • Understanding the JEE Advanced cutoff involves considering several crucial factors. The trends in cutoff scores from previous years play an important role. By examining the cutoff trends, aspiring students can check the competition and set realistic expectations.
  • Numbers of candidates applying for the examination also plays an crucial role. This factor directly influences the level of competition, as a higher number of applicants usually indicates a tougher competition scenario. Students should be aware of the overall landscape to strategically plan their preparation.
  • The difficulty level of the exam is another pivotal factor. Depending on the complexity of the questions, the cutoff scores may vary. A more challenging exam might result in slightly lower cutoffs, whereas an easier one could lead to higher cutoffs. Understanding the difficulty level helps students assess their performance accurately.
  • Speaking of performance, the candidates’ actual results in the JEE Advanced 2023 exam are crucial determinants. Your individual performance directly impacts your chances of meeting the cutoff. Analyzing your strengths and weaknesses, and focusing on improvement areas, is essential for a competitive edge.
  • Number of seats available for admission is a decisive factor. Limited seats mean higher competition, potentially affecting the cutoff scores. Aspiring students should be mindful of the available seats in their desired courses and institutes.

JEE Advanced Cutoff 2024 Eligibility Criteria

  • The JEE Advanced top 20 percentile cutoffs, specific to different categories, depend on the scores achieved by candidates who clear their respective board exams in a given year. PwD candidates share the same cutoff as the lowest among other categories.
  • For the academic year 2024, the top 20 percentile cutoff applies to students who completed their 12th standard exams in the same year. Similarly, those who took the exam in 2023 will be evaluated based on that year’s cutoff.
  • First-time candidates in 2023 aiming to meet the 2024 top 20 percentile cutoff must reattempt all subjects. Their evaluation will be based on the 2023 cutoff.
  • If a Board doesn’t provide top 20 percentile cutoff information, candidates need a certificate confirming their placement from the respective board.
