Eligibility Criteria for IIT Courses

In order to qualify for admission to Bachelor of Technology and Dual degree courses at IITs, aspiring candidates must obtain passing marks in the qualifying exam. The National Testing Agency has waived the requirement of securing at least 75% marks in class XII Board Examinations for admission to IITs because of the coronavirus pandemic. Admissions to the above-mentioned programmes at IITs depend on two engineering entrance examinations and a joint counselling procedure.

  • Step 1: Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main)
  • Step 2: JEE Advanced
  • Step 3: Joint Seat Allocation Authority Counselling

To get admission to Master of Technology courses, students must qualify for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering examination. Bachelor degree holders in Engineering and individuals in the final year of such courses can apply for the GATE examination.

Admissions & Cut-offs for IIT Courses

During Joint Seat Allocation Authority counselling, the IITs announce round and category-wise cut-offs for admissions to Bachelor of Technology and Dual Degree courses. After appearing for the JEE Advanced examination, the next step is to sit for JoSAA counselling.
