Thinking of selling some shares you hold on Groww? The process is relatively straightforward, but there’s a new verification system in place to keep things secure. This article will guide you through selling shares on Groww and explain the TPIN verification you’ll encounter.

Before You Sell

  • Ensure you have the shares you want to sell in your Demat account.
  • Be familiar with basic order types like market orders and limit orders.

Steps to Sell Shares on Groww

Step 1: Login to the Groww App or Website.

Step 2: Navigate to your Holdings section. This will display all the shares you currently hold.

Step 3: Select the stock you want to sell.

Step 4: Enter the details of your sell order:

  • Type: Choose between “Delivery” (selling shares that are transferred to the buyer) or “Intraday” (selling shares within the same trading day).
  • Stock Exchange: Select the exchange (BSE or NSE) where you want to sell.
  • Quantity: Enter the number of shares you want to sell.
  • Order Type: Choose “Market” for immediate execution at the current market price or “Limit” to set a specific price at which you’re willing to sell.

Step 5: Click on “Verify Sell.”

New TPIN Verification System

Here’s where the new process comes in:

1. You’ll be prompted to verify your holdings using a TPIN (Transaction Personal Identification Number) provided by CDSL, the depository where your shares are held.

2. This verification ensures transparency and security during the selling process.

3. You have two options for verification:

  • Use an existing TPIN: If you’ve already verified your holdings earlier that day, you might have a valid TPIN. Enter it and proceed.
  • Request a new TPIN: If you don’t have a TPIN or it’s expired (valid for one trading day), click on “Request New Pin.” Groww will send a TPIN to your registered mobile number and email address from CDSL.

Step 6: Enter the TPIN and the OTP received on your phone.

Step 7: Click on “Sell” to confirm your order.

Additional Points

  • You can set your own TPIN for future convenience through a link provided by Groww.
  • Intraday orders don’t require TPIN verification as the shares aren’t transferred.
  • Verification is highly recommended to avoid delays in selling your shares.

By following these steps and understanding the TPIN verification process, you can easily sell your shares on Groww with added security. We recommend verifying your holdings beforehand for a smoother selling experience
