KYC stands for “Know Your Customer” and is a mandatory process for verifying your identity. For Amazon Pay, a prepaid instrument regulated by the RBI (Reserve Bank of India), completing KYC unlocks several benefits:

  • Increased Wallet Limits: After KYC, your wallet limit goes up to ₹1 Lakh, and you can add up to ₹50,000 per month.
  • No Spending Limits: With KYC, you can spend any amount through your Amazon Pay wallet.
  • Account Deactivation Prevention: KYC prevents your account from becoming inactive after two years of creation.

How to Complete KYC for Your Amazon Pay Wallet?

Currently, Amazon Pay KYC can only be done through the Amazon app. Here’s a breakdown of the process:

Required Documents

  • PAN Card: This is mandatory for initiating the KYC process.
  • Address Proof (One of the following):

Steps to Complete Amazon Pay KYC

  • Step 1: Download the Amazon App.
  • Step 2: Open the app and navigate to the “Amazon Pay” section.
  • Step 3: Look for the “KYC” option within Amazon Pay. It might be under “Settings” or a dedicated KYC section.
  • Step 4: Amazon offers two options: Video KYC and Doorstep Verification (subject to availability).

Video KYC on the Amazon App

This is a quick and convenient option:

  • Step 1: Before initiating video KYC, ensure your PAN card is verified within the app.
  • Step 2: Follow the prompts to start a video call with an Amazon representative.
  • Step 3: Have the original PAN card and your chosen address proof ready to present during the call.
  • Step 4: You’ll need to enter your Aadhaar number and confirm the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
  • Step 5: Ensure a stable internet connection, functioning camera and microphone, a well-lit background, and your face clearly visible (remove any masks).
  • Step 6: Grant location access to confirm you’re in India during the KYC process (for regulatory reasons).
  • Step 7: Using a VPN might disrupt the KYC process.

Doorstep Verification

  • Schedule Appointment: Choose a date, time slot, and address for an Amazon agent to visit for document verification.
  • Prepare Documents: Have the originals of your PAN card and address proof ready.
  • Agent Verification: The agent will arrive at the scheduled time and scan a QR code to confirm the in-person verification.

What if My KYC Gets Rejected?

Here are some common reasons for KYC rejection and solutions to get you back on track:

  • Unclear Documents: Ensure your PAN card is presented clearly during the video call.
  • Mismatched Information: Double-check that the details provided on your Amazon app match those on your PAN card and Aadhaar.
  • Technical Glitches: If the video call drops or encounters technical issues, you can re-initiate Video KYC after 15 minutes.

Additional Information

1. Currently, KYC cannot be completed through a web browser. It’s exclusive to the Amazon app.

2. Physical submission of documents is not accepted
