Futurense Interview experience for Data Engineer 2023

Futurense is an emerging company that upskills the graduates from various campuses and deploy in the fortune companies in the data related field i.e., roles like Data Scientist, Data Engineer, Data Analyst and Data Visualisation Expert. The company mostly hires from low tier campuses and upskill them for 1 year later deploys in the fortune companies.
The company made an pool campus hiring that includes our campus too, a total of 812 students from our campus eligible from our campus to appear in the recruitment. The day started with a introductory session about the roles offered, on-boarding process and a Q&A session, post after the session we received a mail for registering to the online technical assessment.

Round-1 | Online Technical Assessment :

The online assessment is scheduled for 150 minutes on the examly.io platform. The assessment is made in 3 sections as 25% aptitude, 35% programming and 40% SQL and each section had its own cut-off to be cleared. The aptitude(10 MCQs) had the topics like quantitative aptitude, Logical reasoning and reading comprehension with a cutoff of 60%(6 MCQs need to be correct). The programming is sub-divided into MCQs and coding, MCQs consisted of 15 questions where 8 were easy(loops/conditions/operators), 4 were medium(logics/recursions) and 3 were hard(DSA) with a cutoff of 60%(12 need to be correct) and the coding has 3 questions(2 easy, 1 medium) with cutoff of 50%(need to solve either 2 easy or 1 medium). The SQL is the major part of the assessment as it consisted of 18 MCQs(14 easy, 4 medium) with 50% cutoff and query writing (SQL coding) had 3 problems(3 easy, 1 medium) with 40% cutoff (need to solve either 2 easy or 1 medium).
The assessment is bit constraint filled than others but its pretty easy to pass the assessment with good knowledge. After a week the result was out and only 4 students moved to the next round.

Round-2 | Online Technical Interview:

This round is of medium-hard level cause the technical managers/ Technical officers interviews the candidates. The round is a complete mix of the all technical stuff mostly inclined on the SQL/ DBMS. The round started with the introduction followed by basic fundamentals and SQL. The basic fundamentals refer to the programming languages, oops concepts, logics and a minimal DSA(no implementation nor code writing) but when the in SQL part each and every point was asked to explain in a detail manner and also asked to write some queries on a illustrated data table. The round went too deep into the SQL but I fairly managed to move into the next round.

Round-3 | Behavioral Round:

This was the most important round cause you will be asked about the psychometric questions and some real situations will be given and most importantly you need to follow STAR(Situation, Task, Action, Result) method. The round is bit intense and led me to nervousness but the interviewer understood the situation and made to feel friendly. This round is just like a meet with the friend but everything will be observed by the interviewer.

Round-4 | HR Discussion:

This is the round where our role within in the company will be decided by the Hiring team. The Discussion started with introduction and deep dive into the projects, skills mentioned in the resume (The HR had more idea of my resume than me). The discussion moved onto some personal questions like family background, aim, goals, willingness and hobbies. The round was sweet and short but very impactful. Finally only 1 student got selected from our campus, unfortunately I am not the one but its a good experience interviewing cause they just improved my SQL skills a bit more XD.

In the entire process the challenges came across me was the glitches in the online assessment platform and for the SQL query coding the table names or attribute names were completely different from actual names loaded in the editor, so lots of pruning happens and need to try every possibility within the stipulated time to clear the cutoff.
