From Curious Student to Data Analyst at JP Morgan: Career Journey

Hey everyone! I’m excited to take you through my journey from a curious 10th grader to a Data Analyst at JP Morgan, where I dive deep into data to uncover insights and make informed decisions.

Back in 10th grade, I was drawn to solving puzzles, especially in numbers and patterns. Whether it was solving mind-bending puzzles or carrying out exciting experiments, I found joy in solving the world around me. This love for problem-solving ignited my interest in data analysis.

In 11th grade, I knew I wanted a career that would allow me to use my analytical skills to make a solid impact. So, in 12th grade, I opted for subjects like mathematics, and statistics, and chose IP as my additional subject. These subjects equipped me with logical thinking and numerical skills important for data analysis.

While school laid a strong foundation, I craved to delve deeper into data analysis on my own. I began exploring beginner-friendly tools and techniques,I further improved my skills in data visualization and analysis, experimenting with various datasets to extract meaningful insights. Building simple data projects, even if they were just basic analyses or visualizations, fueled my passion for data analysis.

I always wanted to study Data Analytics at a well-known organization like IITs, NITs, or even BITS Pilani, but life was like, ‘Nope, bad choice.’ So, yeah, I won’t lie. I found myself at a bit of a crossroads, wondering where to turn next.

College and Beyond (Becoming a Data Analyst at JP Morgan):

After 12th grade, my interest in data analysis led me to pursue a degree in BTech CSE with a specialization in Data Science from a Tier 2 college. I dedicated myself to mastering advanced statistical methods, programming languages like R and Python (I suggest checking out Python tutorials on GeeksforGeeks – that’s where I learned from), and data manipulation techniques.

I prepared consistently for the job market, participating in internships, workshops, and competitions to gain practical experience and enhance my skill set. My efforts paid off when I landed an internship at JP Morgan during my final year of college, where I got hands-on experience with real-world data analysis projects. Upon graduation, I was thrilled to accept a full-time position as a Data Analyst at JP Morgan. Here, I apply my analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide useful insights to key stakeholders.

Working alongside a talented team of analysts and utilizing cutting-edge tools and technologies, I feel qualified to make a major impact every day. And remember, once you’ve done those courses, you’ll be good with Python (from GeeksforGeeks), R (from Coursera), and don’t forget SQL!

Why Data Analysis?

My journey to becoming a Data Analyst wasn’t driven by one single moment but by a series of experiences that established my passion for data-driven decision-making. I love tackling tough data puzzles and turning them into useful ideas that help businesses succeed. Plus, because the field is always changing, there’s always something new to discover, which keeps me excited and driven to do my best in my job.
