Exly Interview Experience For SDE-II (Backend) 2024

Telephonic Conversation with HR (10-15 mins):

I applied on their careers site.

HR approached me on a phone call and said my resume had been shortlisted. I expressed my interest in the job.

HR asked a few questions about my current organization – CTC drawn, work experience, comfort with onsite work, etc.

Then she explained the interview process which would have two technical Rounds revolving around DSA and System Design and asked me for my availability for the same.

I received the Google Meet invite and was initially surprised that my starting round was directly with the CTO. So, I was hoping that he would discuss something about my previous projects and system design so, I started preparing accordingly.

Technical Round 1 (CTO): (30 mins)

• We started the round with my introduction.
• Then he asked for a brief overview of my previous project for about 5 minutes.
• Then, he directly jumped to the problem-solving DSA question.

Problem Statement (Medium – Hard) – https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/count-palindrome-sub-strings-string/

• It was a dynamic programming question.
• I explained to him about the approach and recursive solution.
• However, I was not able to come up with the recurrence relation.
• He seemed to be in a little hurry, and after waiting for 5 minutes he asked whether I could come up with a solution.
• I knew that I wouldn’t be able to solve the problem in such a short time. So, I said no.

Then we concluded the Interview after 25 minutes.

It was the fastest-ever interview I gave till now. Honestly, didn’t like their way of taking interviews.

Verdict: Reject
