The utilization of a program’s energy through using supplies is referred to as energy consumption. Giga Joules per year, kilograms of oil equivalent per year (kg/a), and Watts are used to calculate the said amount of consumption.
Formula
Ec = Pt/1000
where,
- Ec is the energy consumed in kWh
- P refers to the power in Watts
- t refers to time
Sample Problems
Problem 1. Calculate the energy consumed by an engine that consumes 200 W power while working for 4 hours.
Solution:
Given: P = 200 W and t = 4 hours
Since Ec = Pt/1000
= 200 × 4 × 60 × 60/1000
= 2880 kWh
Problem 2. Calculate the energy consumed by an engine that consumes 150 W power while working for 2 hours.
Solution:
Given: P = 150 W and t = 2 hours
Since Ec = Pt/1000
= 150 × 2 × 60 × 60/1000
= 1080 kWh
Problem 3. Calculate the energy consumed by an engine that consumes 120 W power while working for 2 hours.
Solution:
Given: P = 120 W and t = 2 hours
Since Ec = Pt/1000
= 120 × 2 × 60 × 60/1000
= 864 kWh
Problem 4. Calculate the energy consumed by an engine that consumes 120 W power while working for 2 hours.
Solution:
Given: P = 120 W and t = 2 hours
Since Ec = Pt/1000
= 120 × 2 × 60 × 60/1000
= 6624 kWh
Problem 5. Calculate the energy consumed by an engine that consumes 90 W power while working for 3 hours.
Solution:
Given: P = 90 W and t = 3 hours
Since Ec = Pt/1000
= 90 × 3 × 60 × 60/1000
= 972 kWh
