Human brain is the brain is larger and more complex than the animal brain. The complexity of the human the brain is more due to the highly developed neocortex, which is responsible for cognitive functions. The human brain is special when compared to the animal brain in several ways: we have developed a complex language system that allows us to communicate and express our thoughts and feelings effectively when compared to animals, we have higher cognitive abilities, such as to think on our own, being aware of ourselves. We can pass down our knowledge from generation to generation, while animals can be intelligent and can solve problems but they do not have the same level of complexity and abilities as human brain.

Thalamus and hypothalamus are responsible for directing sensory information and regulating body temperature. The limbic system is involved in emotions, memory formation and motivation. These components, along with numerous interconnected neurons and neural pathways, form the intricate and complex human brain.

What is Animal brain?

Animal brain is not that much complex when compared to the human brain. Classification of the animal brain is based on size and complexity. The animal brain is classified into five types, they are simple nervous system, Invertebrate complex nervous system, vertebrate fish, reptiles, birds, and mammals.

  • Simple nervous system contain small number of nerve cells or neurons, example: Jelly fish.
  • Invertebrate complex nervous system have more complex nervous system when compared to the simple nervous system, example: bee, octopus, spiders.
  • Vertebrate fish, have brain that are more developed than invertebrates but less complex than those of mammals or birds. They support sensory processing, motor coordination, and basic cognitive functions.
  • Reptiles and birds have more advanced brains compared to fish. They exhibit complex behaviours, learning, and memory.
  • Mammals are among the most complex and highly developed, they possess learning, problem-solving, and social behaviour.
