My Life journey:-

After completing my class-12th from CBSE Board in 2020. I did Diploma in Elementary Education(D.El.Ed) from Chhattisgarh. From childhood days, I was very fond of teaching and therefore I chose this field. In the society, where people cannot think of a profession other than Doctors and Engineering, I decided to follow a not so conventional path. During my diploma, I came to know about this exam and its benefits. From that day, I dreamt of clearing this exam and wanted to see myself as a government teacher.

My Preparation Journey:-

CTET consists of 5 different subjects. Some of the subjects are similar to what I have studies during my diploma. So, I devoted equal time to all the subject, to have a strong hold in each one of them. For Child Development and Pedagogy, I went through my class notes. Those proved to be more than enough for me. For all other subjects, I followed the playlist of Himanshi Singh ma’am. I would definitely recommend everyone to check it once. I took extensive notes of every video I watched and revised it the other day. This helped me to retain the previously studied topics while learning new topics everyday. As the exam approached, I solved all the previous year papers. Also, I gave many mock exams to identify my weakness and then worked on it. One thing which I found was, I was doing silly mistakes in the maths section. So, I used to be extra alert while attempting the maths section. This is all about my preparation.

Exam Day:

I appeared for Paper-1. My exam was on 29th December 2021 and I got the first shift which was from 8:30 am- 11 am. Although I was confident enough to clear the exam but still exam anxiety was there. As I arrived at the exam centre, I felt a little nervous as this was the second biggest exam for me after class-12 board exams. I went inside the inside hall after a small prayer to god. As the question paper flashed before the screen, I started with the Child and Pedagogy section as this was mostly theoretical. Then, I attempted Environmental Studies. This section seemed quite easy. Then I did Hindi(language-1) and then English(Language-2). After doing all these, I finally attempted the maths section. I got stuck on 2-3 questions but somehow solved them. My exam went really well and I came out of the exam hall with a sign of relief.

Results:

The result was declared on 9 March 2022. As I got to know that the results are live. I felt a little nervous while opening the result page. As I typed my details, my fingers were shaking out of nervousness. Finally, the numbers flashed before me. I cleared the CTET exam. I got 112 out of 150 marks.

Marks distribution:

  • Child Development and Pedagogy- 21/30
  • Mathematics- 26/30 (quite unexpected!!)
  • Environmental Studies- 23/30
  • Language-1(Hindi)-20/30
  • Language-2(English)-22/30
  • Overall-112/150 (74.67 %)
  • Cut-Off: 60%

Learnings:

  • To clear CTET, you must devote equal time to all the subjects.
  • Consistency is every day. Studying each day is better than studying for 8 hours on weekends.
  • Solve all the previous year’s questions as many direct questions may come from past papers.
  • Give as much as mock tests, as you can and identify your mistakes and work on them.
  • Just believe in the almighty and put in all your efforts.
