Cognizant conducted an off-campus drive to some selected campuses only and our’s is one of them. At first it conducted a test and shortlisted some candidates from it . For them it offered some courses in tekstac platform on spring, maven etc. and asked us to score more than or equal to 80% inorder to shortlist for the interview.

The interview consisted of 2 rounds .

Round 1 : Technical interview

This interview was held in superset ,it went on for 50 min for me. It was totatlly depended on the panel member. The interviewer asked some basic question on java (spring , maven). The questions like :

  1. Tell me about yourself.
  2. Explain your projects.
  3. Explain what are all the courses done by you.
  4. Explain about the courses done through udemy offered by cognizant (spring mvc, spring maven ,spring boot, unit testing).
  5. Explain what is spring mvc and explain mvc each in detail.
  6. What are the annotations and tell different types of annotations.
  7. What is the use of @Controller annotation.
  8. Given a case study, understand and code ,print the output in the form of table.(code in java).
  9. Given code snippets and asked to guess the outputs.
  10. What are exceptions.
  11. Exceptional handling.
  12. Given some cases in Exceptional handling and asked to guess the possible cases of execution.
  13. Finally block.

Note : The interviewer wants to know the approach of the code but not the completed solution though he waited for me to do the code as much as I can.

Round 2 : HR round

Those who got selected in round 1 got shortlisted for round 2 .In this round we were asked about

  1. Tell me about yourself
  2. Importance of farming(JUST A MIN)
  3. Importance of education(JUST A MIN)
  4. Are we flexible with night shifts?
  5. Are we okay with relocation.
  6. They also asked our name in the pan card and alternate mobile number.

Results were announced after 20 days . Few of us were selected for Genc and Genc Next role.The role was completely based on the interview performance and luckily I got selected for Genc next role.

Tips:

  1. Be confident
  2. It is not mandatory to answer all the questions correctly but it is important how you convey the interviewer about your knowledge on that particular topic.
  3. Do not give up in the interview , even if you are not able to write the code ,make sure you tell the interviewer the correct approach.
