In the Pokémon world, starting their journey is a very memorable step for any trainer. They have to choose their very first Pokemon as their partner. Young trainers are often offered with friendly Pokemons to choose from. In each generation, these Pokemon starters have varied in the Pokemon world. It is also often regarded as the first Pokemon that a trainer chooses that resembles them. Do you want to know the starter Pokemon for each generation? 14. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon

Released year: 2005

Generation: Multiple generation

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is a video game, unlike other Pokemon games where the player is a Pokemon itself rather than a Pokemon trainer. Before starting the game, a series of questions are asked and according to the answers, the player wakes up as the suitable Pokemon in the game. They can partner up with other Pokemons and can go on adventures and play other mini-games.

13. Pikachu / Eevee

Released year: 2018

Generation: Nintendo switch

Later in the year 2018 a remake of Generation 1 Pikachu and Eevee are released for the Nintendo Switch. Two games called “Let’s Go, Pikachu” and “Let’s Go, Eevee” are released by them. In these games, there is not much choice of choosing other Pokemon as your partner apart from Pikachu and Eevee. But these games provide a great trip for newcomers to the Pokemon world.

11. Sprigatito/Fuecoco/Quaxly

Generation: 9

The Pokemon Scarlet & Violet starters, these three Pokemons are considered to be the best Pokemon starters in generation 9. Sprigatito is a grass-type Pokemon. Despite its cute appearance, it is an aggressive Pokemon. Fuecoco is a fire-type Pokemon that resembles a duck or crocodile. Quaxly is a water-type Pokemon considered the strongest even at its early stage.

10. Rowlet/Cyndaquil/ Oshawott

Released year: 2022

Generation: 8

In Pokemon Legends Arceus, Cyndaquil is a fire-type pokemon and the fattest one to evolve and also the fastest and the most powerful out of the three. Rowlett is a grass-type Pokemon and seems to be the weakest but it grows stronger once it evolves and has more game versatility. Oshawott is a water-type Pokemon that evolves at level 36 and can be used as a physical or special attacker based on the situation.

9. Grookey/Scorbunny/Sobble

Released year: 2019

Generation: 8

In the Pokemon Sword and Shield, Grookey is a grass-type Pokemon that later evolves into Thwackey at level 16 and into RillaBoom at level 35. Scorbunny is a fire-type Pokemon that evolves into Raboot at level 16 and further into Cindarece at level 35. Sobble is a water-type Pokemon that evolves in Drizzle at level 16 and Inteleon at level 35.

8. Rowlet/Litten/Popplio

Released year: 2016

Generation: 7

In the Pokemon Sun and Moon, Litten is a fire-type Pokemon and can struggle in the starting as most Pokemon are water-type. But once Litten evolves it is considered as the strongest Pokemon. Rowlett is a grass-type Pokemon that resembles an owl and is not strong enough but once it is against a grass-type Pokemon no one can beat it. Popplio is a water-type Pokemon that is cheerful and adorable and is a great Pokemon for a starter.

7. Chespin/Fennekin/Froakie

Released year: 2013

Generation: 6

In Pokemon X and Y, Chespin is a grass type that can quickly adapt to the moves of the opponent and can even perform a rock-type attack which is fatal to the opponents. Fennekin is a fire-type Pokemon that resembles a fox. It can perform an attack which is a combination of both fire and psychic making it the best in Pokemon X & Y. Froakie is a water-type Pokemon that typically looks like a frog. The evolutionary line of Froakie is considered the strongest.

6. Snivy/Tepig/Oshawott

Released year: 2010, 2012

Generation: 5

Snivy is a pure grass-type Pokemon which means it only takes half damage from electric, grass, ground, water water-type Pokemon. It has only one form of evolution. Tepig has two forms of evolution Chaoboo and Emboar and is a fire-type Pokemon considered to be strongest among the three. Oshawott is a water-type Pokemon with one evolution form and is strong against steel, fire, and water and weak against grass and electricity.

5. Turtwig/Chimchar/Piplup

Released year: 2006

Generation: 4

In Pokemon Diamond and Shining Pearl, Chimchar is a fire-type Pokemon that resembles a monkey. It is gonna be a tough start with this Pokemon as a starter but is very powerful in the later stages of the game. Turwig is a grass-type Pokemon which is a great start but will face challenges later. But if trained properly it will eventually grow to be a grass-rock type Pokemon. Piplup is a water-type Pokemon if trained properly will be a strong Pokemon.

4. Treecko/Torchic/Mudkip

Released year: 2004

Generation: 3

Treecko is a grass-type Pokemon that remains a grass type even in its final form. It is famous for its speed and special attacks. Torchi is a fire-type Pokemon that turns into a fire and fighting-type Pokemon after evolution. It mainly uses pure fire kind attacks. Mudkip is a water-type Pokemon that becomes a ground-type Pokemon after evolving. It is slow in battles but its attacks cause a huge amount of damage to the opponent.

3. Chikorita/ Cyndaquill/Totodile

Released year: 2000

Generation: 2

Chikorita is a grass-type Pokemon that is strong against electric, grass, ground, and water-type Pokemons and weak against bug, fire, and ice-type Pokemons. Cyndaquill is a fire-type pokemon that is strong against bugs, fire, grass, and ice and weak against ground, rock, and water-type Pokemon. Totodile is a water-type Pokemon that is strong against fire, ice water, and steel and weak against electric and grass-type Pokemon.

2. Pikachu

Released year: 1998

Generation: 1

Pikachu is an electric-type Pokemon that is very famous in the Pokemon world. It has two evolutionary forms. It is one of the strongest Pokemon as it is strong against almost all kinds of Pokemon including grass, fire, water, etc. It is weak against only one type of Pokemon which is strong ground types. Its strongest attack is the strike of electricity which is equal to lightning.

Generation: 1

Bulbasaur is a grass-type Pokemon with two evolutionary forms. It is weak against flying, fire, and psychic-type Pokemons. Its strongest attack is the vine whip and the power whip. Charmander is a fire-type Pokemon with two evolutionary forms. It is weak against ground, rock, and water-type Pokemons. Its strongest attacks are ember and flamethrower. Squirtle is a water-type Pokemon with two evolutionary forms. It is strong against fire, ice, and steel-type Pokemons.
