Last Updated :

In this article we will see how we can set the date range to the QDateEdit. Date range means that user can only enter that date which lies within the set range. Sometimes there is a need to set date range for example when user is asked to select the date for meeting within 10 days then need of setting range arises. Individually we can set minimum and maximum date with the help of setMinimumDate
and setMaximumDate
methods respectively.
In order to do this we use setDateRange
method with the QDateEdit object
Syntax : date.setDateRange(min, max)
Argument : It takes two QDate object as argument argument
Return : It returns None
Below is the implementation
from PyQt5.QtWidgets import *
from PyQt5 import QtCore, QtGui
from PyQt5.QtGui import *
from PyQt5.QtCore import *
import sys
class Window(QMainWindow):
def __init__( self ):
super ().__init__()
self .setWindowTitle( "Python " )
self .setGeometry( 100 , 100 , 500 , 400 )
self .UiComponents()
self .show()
def UiComponents( self ):
date = QDateEdit( self )
date.setGeometry( 100 , 100 , 200 , 40 )
a_flag = Qt.AlignCenter
date.setAlignment(a_flag)
d1 = QDate( 2020 , 10 , 10 )
d2 = QDate( 2020 , 10 , 20 )
date.setDateRange(d1, d2)
App = QApplication(sys.argv)
window = Window()
sys.exit(App. exec ())
