Rupees he needs to buy 1 chocolate = Rs 20
no of chocolate he needs to buy = 7
Total amount he needs = 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 = 20 × 7 = Rs 140
So, he needs Rs 140 to buy 7 chocolates.
Example 2: What is 9 times 14
Solution:
9 times 14 means = 14 + 14 + 14 + 14 + 14 + 14 + 14 + 14 + 14 = 14 × 9(using table of 14) = 126
So, 9 times 14 is 126.
Example 3: The milkman charge Rs 20 for half litres of milk. Ram buys half litre of milk on daily basis. At the end of month March, how much amount he needs to pay to the milkman?
Solution:
Cost of half litre of milk = Rs 20
No. of days in the month of March = 31
Total amount he needs to pay at the end of month = 20 × 31 = 620
So, at the end of the month March he needs to pay Rs 620.
