My discovery of UC Berkeley as a university was full of enthusiasm, where as a new freshman I was excited to take up the challenges and opportunities that college offered. The first year was a hurricane of discovering new friends, attending exciting lectures, and learning academic stuff which would simultaneously be going to be the basis for the four-year voyage of self-discovery. As I progressed through my studies, I explore my field of study more deeply. I joined research projects, internships, and campus activities that broaden my understanding about my chosen field. At the time when the graduation ceremony was close, I had already become a would-be scholar who had not only got a degree but the great sense of personal growth and intellectual development as well.

Festive Spirits: Let us look back on our campus traditions with all the nostalgia and pride!

The atmosphere was charged with energy during the annual traditions and events on campus every year, each of which was marked a memorial celebration of the heterogeneous talents and the multicultural cycle within the UC Berkeley community. The school spirit born during the winding rallies of Big Game Week and the mental provoking discussions of Cal Day led to the students, the staff and the alumnis being integrated into one big community.

The Career Journey: Walking past Job boards.

Being faced with a finish line of college, the search for graduate level opportunities couldn’t miss the attention of many students. Having career services at work proved to be of immeasurable help and strength, with resume workshops being just one of the many examples of student empowerment in an often unyielding job market. Though the voyage was joyously cumbersome with various obstacles and uncertainties, it manifested the ability to spring back and steadfastness of the Cal community.

Reflections: Kaleidoscopic Choice of Experiences

Now that I have finished my time at the University of California, Berkeley, I can say that I am indebted to the bowls of mixed colors, metaphorically speaking, that came together to create that colorful collegiate journey of mine. The examination of the fulfillment of my academic achievements, the realization of personal growth and the discovery of myself wasn’t only one of the most intense and pleasurable experiences of my life, it also changed my interests and desires forever. Nevertheless, the road was strewn with not a few twists and turns, yet it was having these very difficulties to overcome that made me become much stronger and flew me higher.

Along with a diploma, I carry the legacy of UC Berkeley which is a great concoction of academic excellence, innovations, and social responsibility. Though my time as a student of UC Berkeley has ended, my connection to Cal will stay with me as I go on to different places and do new things.
